Two Faces Have I

I had yet to comment on the United Health Care CEO shooting from a week or so ago.

For a bunch of people who are appalled by school shootings and the likes of Kyle Rittenhouse, I am a bit flummoxed at the amount of cheering - literal and figurative - that has gone on about the man shot.

I follow a group on FB called 'the Other 98%' and the administrators (because I don't think just anyone can post on there) are skirting on the border of advocating murder, retribution and what they deem is justice. 710 has seen late night talk shows where the audience claps and cheers when the topic is brought up.

Yeah - I "get" that people are frustrated with how healthcare is run in this country - this is nothing new. However, I am very uncomfortable on how very comfortable people are that this killing was (almost) justified. As if it's really going to change they system.

The time for potential change was November 5th and in that we failed. Nothing the new administration is going to do to improve anything. Quite the opposite I suspect.

I get that I'm a hypocrite in this regard. I've wished / hoped / prayed BLOTUS would die. But I didn't really say assassinated. He's old enough, fat enough and unhealthy enough that it should take care of itself.

While I'd consider myself liberal, the other 98% (not all, obvi) are seemingly ok with this brand of justice. But they are not okee-dokee of the Rittenhouses of the world - who saw their/his causes as just and acted upon it, because it's not THEIR cause, so it's wrong.

It can't really be both ways, can it?

And if it is, where is the line?  Jakob fucked up my Starbucks order, so he must die? Who gets to judge what they see as morally wrong and take (or approve of) lethal action?

As if this fucking country weren't lawless enough, it seems so many are ok with taking it further. Yes, I'd expect it from the republicans who seemingly love this behaviour from its leaders on down, but it's just so fucking disappointing to see it's not just them.

You're Gonna Get What's Coming

My first non-meme Sunday post in a long time. Honestly, I was at a loss as to what I would write, but then opportunity presented itself.

Unsurprisingly, yet continually disappointed, the number of harassing on-line posts, post election, have greatly increased. Many, if not most, about / towards women.

But please GOPers, tell me how this wasn't an election about hate.  I'm waiting.

There are hundreds or thousands of men / boys with their oh so clever, "Your Body, MY Choice" tweets, tik toks, whatever else they use posts.

You'd think it is just bravado, but when some of these are getting over a millions views and "likes", it really is fucking troublesome.

There's already a sexual offender on the Supreme Court. And if they are white boys, like Brock Turner*, clearly judges look the other way (he completed only 3 months of ONLY a 6 month sentence).  Oh - and a sex offender about to occupy the White House for a second time.  ....and he embarrassingly doesn't have the technique to fellate a microphone.

Still - while the judicial system might not punish these human garbage dumps, there are enough people (with knowhow) in society who will.  And are.

I am in awe of these women. Simply in awe.

I am still so angry these days, I have ZERO remorse or loss on conscience if they ruin his life. TOTALLY ruin it.  Family. Friends. School. Work.

I don't care if he did it as a "joke". That is now on him.

He doesn't have to be physically harmed. But I don't want him walking into his office, or a Starbucks, without having to face the women who are in those places - and hopefully the males who are allies. And here's fucking hoping his boss is female.

This feels like the first win of this week. I want the women of the web (and the men) to keep calling out these shitheads. RUIN THEM.

*I am committed to keeping Brock Turner's name out there, in about one post per year, for all search engines to keep snagging that name so everyone knows BROCK TURNER IS A RAPIST!

Police on my Back

May1st is traditionally the day one must commit to a college, if one had applied and been accepted. It's a national deadline.

Many will pay the deposit on more than one and even wait until their orientation at each of them before actually deciding where they actually will attend. With rising costs, those numbers aren't overwhelming. And universities plan that into their enrollment numbers as well.

Disruptions on 200+ college campuses are having some people (re)thinking their decisions.

I guess the question is: why?

I suppose it would come down to the university's stance on the matters of Gaza and Israel, but more so on how they act (or don't) on that and the protests at hand.

Depending on the day, there are (or have been) 13-42+ political parties in Israel, almost none on the same page as another. Only 13 have seats in the Knesset (Assembly). They are the ones who pass laws, elect prime ministers and presidents - and approves the cabinet.

The majority of Israeli citizens don't necessarily have a voice here.

I've said before - Israel is not innocent in their current situation, but that most certainly does not permit or absolve Hamas (not Palestine) of their actions.

Anti-Semitic violence has rocketed in the U.S. since October 7, 2023. Jewish students on campuses do not feel safe - and the policies already in place on campus protecting them have been ignored for years, only to be highlighted since last year.  You saw three university presidents just trip over themselves with bullshit answers when questioned before congress.

I get the pro-Israel protests. I get the pro-Palestine ones as well.

For all my foreboding on US politics, there is a sliver of me who thinks social change can happen and help political change. I think college protests - peaceful - can bring awareness and education where it is lacking. I don't know US college protests change a thing in the mid-East, save the possibility of how (or if) the US financially funds the on-going strife over there.

As both parties here are not that far away in terms of warmongering, I don't see the DoD stopping the supplying of Israel with weapons. I think they should cease that action, but that's my opinion. I don't think Pappy Joe will put a stop to it and his predecessor would only increase funding. He's butt-buddies with Netanyahu.

Speaking of. Irony (or brains) aren't BLOTUS' strong suits for sure, but his criticism of Pappy Joe's handling (lack of - according to BLOTUS) turmoil on college campuses is in a weird way, hilarious.

Let's pretend - just pretend - for a second that he wasn't in control of January 6 violence at the US Capitol. Hey!. I said "pretend"!  His lack of handling that pales in comparison.

The response by college leaders is uneven at best. Some with campus security; some with police. None yet - yet! - with National Guard and the likes.

But I think we've all learned (well, I'd like to think) historically that government / security interference on college campuses hasn't really gone well in any way shape of form. It has not been lost on me that we are two days away from Kent State's 54th anniversary.

This isn't going to end well. At this point, I'm just not sure for whom.

the Beat Goes On

Just to pile on to the hypocrisy of the life of children, when it comes to the GOP and the religious right, we have to look no farther than a few states over from Alabama.

A few weeks back, though only recently reported, three girls (no, they're not women) in Oklahoma attacked and beat a non-binary student - enough so that she died the following day.

So concerned was the school on the beating, that they never called an ambulance for the child.

Let that sink in.

The grandmother of Nex Benedict took the child to the hospital. Twice. Once where they released them, and then a return visit upon where the student died.

Not only did the school not call for medical care, they didn't report the incident to police.

To be clear, it isn't unknown if Benedict died of the injuries put upon them in that school bathroom. Let me rephrase - the physical injuries. There had been multiple reports of bullying of Benedict. It wouldn't be unheard of - or even a surprise - if they took their own life due to the school circumstances. It is a scenario played out far too often for trans, gay and non-binary youth.

It doesn't help when the head of Oklahoma education is a vocal opponent of what he describes as “radical gender theory.”

I know I should do more research on some group called Libs of Tik Tok, but it sounds like a hate-filled group led by someone who was appointed by the Oklahoma education lead. Trans advocates note taht Libs of Tik Tok have an outspoken stance against transgender rights. Critics argue that the head of Oklahoma education's rhetoric and policies have contributed to an environment that enables hate crimes.

While I don't know this for sure, I would say they're also "pro-life".  That, of course, comes with one big fucking asterisk. Pro-birth, yes.  Pro-life: no!

At this point (read: two weeks after the fact) no charges have been brought against the three girls - even for assault.

I hate this fucking country. I'm sorry that Nex didn't have the life they deserved.

Do As I Say

The headline made me laugh. Internally. Where it counts.

Yes, Dave Chappelle was attacked at one of his shows, which is scary. But is it as frightening as a Howie Mandel set at the Chucklehut?

I'll take my chances with the guy holding the knife. It seems the death would be less painful than Howie on stage.  .....and quicker too.

Mandel and other comedians cited Will Smith as the potential reason for this type of behaviour.  While I'm guessing I'd hate to agree with Howie, he and others might not be wrong.

I mentioned a few weeks back that Smith opted to be a Karen and hit someone for whom he didn't agree. And without real consequences. Oh no! He can't get free movie screeners for 10 years!! How will he ever survive? He doesn't get a decade worth of swag for presenting at the Oscars! I guess he'll have to buy his own mud mask kits now.

But this goes back farther than Will Fucking Smith. I attribute the rapid decline in acceptable behaviour to BLOTUS. His tear downs of any and every one, with zero repercussions, brought out a horrible side of this country that was at least pretending to hide.

It's no longer hiding.

People are extremely reactive these days. It's there way or the highway - literally. Driving in the last 5-7 years has become outrageous. Red lights are merely suggestions now. It's a "do as I please" kind of world now - more than ever before.

Except that it's not.

It's a "do as I please..............not do as you please.......just me!" kind of world.

And as Rock and Chappell found out - jokes are off limits. You might offend someone. Or someone who knows someone who's heard of something one time.  I mean, I assume Chappell set someone off, but I don't know that for sure.

Mandel might be safe. I mean, I'm guessing he's still doing the surgical glove over the head thing? Who is he gonna piss off?  The PPE industry?  ....and if no one laughs, is it still a joke?

Shoot

This is one of the better stories I've heard in a while - and g-d help me, I hope it's true.

The former head of the NRA - which I swear in my extended lifetime has always been Wayne LaPierre - David Keene spoke at "a graduation" (oh yes, quotes) for 3,044 students.

Well, Keene did, as did John Lott, a guns right activist.

The pair were told it was a dry run......a practice session for James Madison Academy.

And 3,044 empty chairs represented the 3,044 students who would have graduated high school this year, had it not been for their deaths due to gun violence.

It seems that neither men believe in background checks - for gun ownership or checking out where they're giving a speech. Had they, one of them might have stumbled upon the fact that James Madison Academy does indeed not exist.

Allegedly, their speeches were pro-gun, and even mentioned that Madison was a proposed the 2nd Amendment.ro-gun. Keene told the empty crowd that “many” of them would “be among those who stand up and prevent” changes to laws aimed at addressing gun violence in the country.

Oh, sweet sweet delicious irony.

As the World Falls Down

I will not let those motherfuckers be the face to today's blog.

Yes, they'll have words here, but not the image. This won't be their story. Kind of.

As of January 20th, the White House, the Senate and the House will be Democratically led.

Let's hope they don't fuck it up.

But yay to Georgia and their two new senators. Everyone involved helped - to paraphrase a friend of a friend - to have Mitch McConnell become what he hates most; a minority !!!

As for yesterday's electoral technicality / finalization count - well, I do believe a week or so ago, I predicted what would happen.

Mary Ingalls, in her later teen years, could have seen it coming.  The Capitol Police??...ehhhhhhhh....not so much.

While I don't think BLOTUS' inciting speech an hour before taking over the Capitol helped matter, the pieces were already in place. It was gonna happen anyway. Still, the Capitol Police - whomever runs them - should all be fired. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

Years ago I was verbally berated in front of dozens for taking a picture in the Capitol visitor's center. If HALF that vitriol was channeled into physicality, they could have kept these fucking demons out. But instead, you see the police posing for selfies with this bunch. What the Actual Fuck?

Now, I was working during most of this, so I didn't know what was going on. 710 and Morty texted and then a few others. But I had my head down most of the day buried in my job. Again, I wasn't happy about it. But I was far from surprised and kind of had a 'told ya so' running through my head.

And as of 20:22, as I draft this - for like the 4th time - I have yet to turn on the tv, nor do I plan to except to maybe watch an episode of Schitt's Creek. But I did check social media......which granted, was probably not the wisest thing to do.

While I love my friend Jeremy, he was talking about how we're better than this. We are not. Clearly. He was mentioning how we got through McCarthy and Nixon....etc.  This, yesterday, was not that.

This is 1979 Iran.  It's 1973 Chile or 1972-1980 Nicaragua. It's a 3rd world country revolution.

Another friend, and former co-worker, Philip, who is actually from Germany and only been in the U.S. for maybe four years (?) likened it to the Nazi's over the Weimarer Republic. To which he added: it’s sad! It’s devastating and shows that this country didn’t learn anything!

This isn't true, I replied: Don't kid yourself. We learned. The lesson learned was the wrong one, but they know exactly what they're doing. They had a playbook.

This isn't a fallacy. I've been preaching this for 4-5 years now.

And I've said this in other types of posts before, but I keep coming back to it again and again and again. Maybe 10+ years ago, I saw politico (for both Dems and GOP) David Gergen speak. It was about the decline and fall of dynasties (no, not Fallon and Sammy Jo) and how it only takes a generation to ruin a country or empire - including the U.S., which he felt was impending. He also predicted by 2029 the US wouldn't even be in the G20.  3rd world country, indeed.

At dinner, 710 and I had the discussion of a revolution  / coup / insurrection / whatever you want to call it, right in front of our eyes. He aptly said he took democracy for granted. I think we all did. And we were wrong. WAY wrong.

Alexander Hamilton, from the hip-hop musical Hamilton, once called democracy "an experiment". You'd think 245 years later we'd be out of beta-testing and into production. Alas, this is clearly not the case.

I've said it before - and most likely will again - but what we took 239 years to build has been brought down in five. In my lifetime we will not fix what we have damaged. After what I saw yesterday, I don't think we EVER will.

A generation is 20-30 years. If Gergen and the folks he quoted are correct, and we take into account only the last five years - we have less than twenty years till the fall of the United States.

Burning Down the House

I've been trying to avoid this post.

I have too many words - and on the other hand, I have none.

I am not sure I can coherently put into words how and what I feel.  Sure, there is anger, shock, sadness, disbelief, but it usually comes right back to anger.

We had debated going to the Cleveland rally on Saturday. In the first paragraph, it was billed as a peaceful one. In the second, it mentioned writing an emergency contact on your arm; making provisions for work, family, pets, should you be in jail for 2-3 days. At that point, we opted out.

Part of that decision was the volume of folks and the closeness of several thousand people and the potential for covid spread. That said, while looking at the videos of our protests, the majority of folks had on masks - be it to conceal their identify or for infection control.

But like other cities, ours went violent.

And I totally get it.

How else does one get the attention of the white establishment? Break their shit.

Voting hasn't worked.  Mediation hasn't worked. Peaceful protests weren't even allowed - not really.

Let's not even talk about justice. Has any white cop actually been convicted of any killing of a black man? Not in Ohio they haven't.  How could any specific community continue to take this lying down?

That Minneapolis cop is kind of fucked either way - not that I care. So many of these violations are not caught clearly on camera, if at all. We've all seen what he did.  His side will claim he cannot get a fair trial, which may or may not be true.  No matter the outcome, there will be protests. Should he be found guilty, the most he can get is 12 years - on one is going to see that as justice. Should he get acquitted, what we saw this last weekend will be a day at the park in comparison.

That said, this week felt like something is about to break. Big time.

Before there have been some upheavals, riots and protests. This feels different. It should. I hope it is.

I do worry. BLOTUS is all but egging on the violence. He needs this discourse to re-re-re-re solidify his base. He needs the country to be in turmoil. Normally, you'd think that would get him voted out, but I don't believe that to be the case. We're already (ALREADY!) getting his 2020 ads playing every single night and multiple times. They are vile - and lies. Total lies.

I don't know what these next few days or weeks will feel like. The riots have taken away from the video being played. That can't happen.

As horrible as that video is, it needs to keep being shown. A distraction of violence will lessen the heinousness of the actual crime.

Odd as it sounds, while my stomach has been in knots for the last week, I am not sure I want that uneasiness to go away. I think it's the hate fire that has to remain to keep change moving forward. It's going to be difficult on every level.

Out of Control

This sign, to your right, allegedly sits at a church across the street from Congress.  I cannot attest this to be true.  I looked at a detailed map of all sides of the capitol but didn't really see a church.

"Across the street" could mean just about anything or anywhere in internet terms.

Still, real or not, the message remains a truism.

I am fully committed to there needing to be something to be done regarding gun control.

I am also fully aware that if Sandy Hook and Parkland didn't spur a single fucking thing, that with the Senate Majority leader still in place, nothing - and I mean NOTH-ING - will be done. Moscow Mitch said as much yesterday.  He'd only put 'something' forward if BLOTUS agreed to sign it.

Sign what?

If you don't have a detailed, oh say, bill, how would you know that Congress would pass it to even BE signed?  So, it sounds like Moscow Mitch and BLOTUS would concoct and go back to Congress as opposed to way 243 years of procedure is supposed to work.

I'd say it's 'baffling' except that anymore it is not - and it is borderline dictatorship. The "president" telling the legislative branch what they're thinking / doing.

You want to know what else is baffling?    This!

Srsly.  While I applaud them, WTF?

I'm guessing only because they've had two shootings at their stores this year alone.  When Walmart is seemingly (I'm not sold on anything they say) on the right side of history, it makes me start to question everything I've done..........ever!

Don't worry folks. The internets brought me back to reality with this one.

I'll just end the post with that.

the Chosen One

Can we just try to ignore the 'chosen one' comment? I don't care in what context he was using it.

And can we try to forget the stupid fucking ass Greenland purchase?

I do find it sad that his staff actually has to back him up and go on air and say that this is a real thing.

While I'd rather not focus on it at all, but we shouldn't ignore BLOTUS' stance on Jewish loyalty.

“If you want to vote Democrat, you are being very disloyal to Jewish people and very disloyal to Israel.”

I know some people are making the stretch of Hitler's "the Jews are not loyal to the state".   It's not the first nor last Hitler reference to come his way.

But this is just a gateway comment to sooooo many things - and none of them will end up well.

I totally get there are some Jews who support BLOTUS - and I'm guessing it's mostly due to Israel, or they're big-assed bankers. Deep down, I'd like to think they have to know he has streak of anti-Semitism running through him.

How does one reconcile white supremacists and neo-Nazi's are 'very good people' and not condemning shooters of synagogues or the guys who are building up to do a shooting - and pulling a voting lever in his favour.

But the quotes set these gun-loving, Jew-hating white men (I mean, it's not even generalizing, is it?) to "punish" the "disloyal".  It's damning, it dangerous, and he knows it, as does his staff.

Why do Steven Miller, Ivanka and Jared think they'll be spared from the "I hate Jews" brigade?  I mean, I think they do think that, but that's not quite the way it works.

BLOTUS is ramping up to something. Maybe it's just 2020.  His 2015 kick off was about Mexicans being rapists and murders. Now that he's got them deported or locked up in cages, he's doubling down on the Jews.

Honestly, if you're not afraid yet, you should be.

Talk is Cheap

I'd say, "what can I say?", but I have a feeling, it will be something.

First off - I finally felt the need to add 'Mass Shooting' for my labels. It's a necessary evil, as this won't be going away anytime soon.

Secondly - the title image seemingly was pulled off the El Paso's Twitter account. I have looked but cannot confirm 100% of this. It's tough to confirm as Twitter took down his page as soon as they could.  That said, the image isn't his - but one from 2016 that he allegedly reposted on his site.

Thirdly - while I won't say his name that is spelled out, BLOTUS and his crew have their hands in both El Paso and probably Dayton too.

I was so fucking depressed by the two shootings this last weekend - 13 hours apart. And truth be told, I've been starting and stopping this post about a dozen times, not being able to commit to thinking about it.  ....and I just stopped again.

All of this is so same old-same old, yet it still feels different. Maybe it's the back to back thing. But really what it is, is the response thing.  I am literally - yes, literally - sickened.

Ugh, this fucking cunt!

At every single rally, her "boss" points his finger, name calls and screams. He does it with his keyboard too - using his tiny hands.  She has the nerve, the audacity, to tell people against violent assault weapon deaths to unify?

You twat, you and your ilk have done everything in your power to do just the opposite. With all these mass shootings, why can't you be in the middle of one of them?

Ugh, this feckless cunt.

Your father is their fucking ring leader. How do you not know that?  You're a faux Jew, and he's not too fond of the real ones. And maybe delve a little into history and Gooooogle "white supremacy jew" and see what comes up.  Twat!

Then there is BLOTUS himself. Let's forget he doesn't know the difference between Dayton and Toledo - at least they're both in the same state.  But his total and utter bullshit on his "Hate has no place in America. Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart and devours the soul." crap.

This is a man who built his campaign and presidency on hate and divisiveness is trying to tell people not to hate.  Actions speak louder than words was my first thought. My second was:  what could this man possibly do, action wise, to show me anything different.  I could not come up with one thing.

He did the requisite: video games, internet violence and the classic, mental illness.

Of course, they're not mentally ill when they're brown or black - but we've covered that before at other shooting posts.  He also doesn't mention his rollback of laws, now allowing mentally ill folks to have access to weapons.  Convenient.

The absolute pièce de résistance is BLOTUS' willingness to support gun legislation.................if it were tied to immigration reform.

Bull-fucking-shit.

Flailing Dem candidate, Tim Ryan (I'm from Ohio, as is he, and I still barely know who the fuck he is), hits it on the head when he says "it's a joke".

I think we all know that he'd take the immigration concession and give nothing in ways of anything gun related.

....and don't even get me started on Moscow Mitch (g-d, I hope that name sticks for the next year and a quarter!) and his not allowing any gun reform to come up for a vote for the last year.

Blood on all their hands.

The shootings are disturbing enough, but the blatant hypocrisy is what makes my stomach turn.

Low Life

I've said this again and again, and yet, I still surprise myself:  how fucking lower can BLOTUS go?

You know in Sunnydale when there was Hellmouth?  That even had a lower level and nice creatures came out of it.

"And don't forget, we don't let them {immigrants} and we can't let them use weapons. We can't. Other countries do. We can't. I would never do that. But how do you stop these people?" the President said.

Someone in the audience interrupted Trump, shouting: "Shoot them!"

Trump chuckled at the shouted remark before shaking his head, as the crowd began to laugh. "That's only in the Panhandle you can get away with that statement," the President then said with a smile, with the crowd erupting into laughter. "Only in the Panhandle!"

As abhorent as he is - and he is - the crowd laughed.........and cheered........at the thought of shooting people.

So, keep in mind, when one of those fucktards actually goes and shoots people at the border (not if, but when), IF he bothers to mention it at all, he will say it was a "joke".

We are going down the drain so quickly. I actually get nauseated.

Over & Over

Two Parkland suicides within a week. And an additional one from the father of a Sandy Hook student.

W.T.F.

Parkland has kind of broke the barriers on so many aspects of a mass shooting. Almost never has their been a student response like the one they had. Never have they been so outspoken, so visible. They've taken a tragedy and made it a teachable moment.  Moments.

Now it's time for round two..............unfortunately.

The reality is, the tragedy doesn't stop with the funerals and the reopening of the school doors - though with drop in coverage, many would think that is where it ends. Trauma lasts for years, decades or a lifetime. I think this is pretty evident in the last few days.

I don't really know how people get over these kind of events. Right now, it is clear that some do not, if any of them do.

It is hard to quantify the cost of these events. There are direct and indirect costs - the latter harder to actualize.  There is the amount of money and time on therapy. There is just the time off of work / school and the downstream loss of revenue from that - and all that entails.

I think the most distressing thing about these suicides is - after all said and done - they were carried out with the item that affected their lives so much prior to this:  a gun.

As the country (read: government) is unwilling to do anything to stop mass shootings - of kids or adults - this is a cycle that will go on.  And on.

It seems the next step is to educate, educated, educate after these shootings. While I don't think any of the survivors and families want to live their lives in the media, the second someone stops broadcasting, most of us stop remembering and stop helping.

The GOP might be unable to really pull off trickle-down economics, but they certainly have a huge success rate of trickle-down murder / suicide.

Life in the Fast Lane

I have to believe there is another end-game to the NRA's "stay in your own lane" to the physician population of this country.

I'm sure by now you've heard that story. A medical journal heavily featured stories on treating gunshot victims, and the NRA dared to say, basically, that the docs don't know what they're talking about.

......because Oliver North, Wayne LePierre are cardio-thoracic and trauma surgeons, dontcha know.

And Ann Coulter, well...........that cunt is always looking for attention. It's tough to get in this administration. Her usual, crazy bat shit stuff is sunshine, lollipop and rainbows compared to the folks at the White House, Senate, Judiciary, State Department..........and Jared.

Love you, Dr. Rick.

Love you more, Dr. Judy.

This does not stop my being baffled over the NRA comment in the first place.  They had to know the backlash, right?  Hell, they had to know the responses. They're evil, but they're not stupid.

I'm open to suggestions as to 'the why', as those folks out there who are brighter than I, can weigh in here.

Murder by Numbers

Once again, I cannot and will not, delve into the who, why, what, where crap of the last / latest mass shooting.

I saw one link - one - and it mentioned mental health. But you know, he is white, so........

I am sure my faithful readers can tell me who, if anyone, was sending "thoughts and prayers".  I'm sure you can relay the borderline vile thing the NRA has said.

There is nothing new under that propaganda sun.

Mental illness aside, there is no good reason to shoot up a room full of people, unless one certain BLOTUS was in said room.

Sorry - collateral damage. It's for the greater good, and all. If a certain press secretary happened to be in the room, well, so be it.

Oh calm your tits, Secret Service.  I don't have the energy to take that on myself, but I wouldn't be crying is someone else did.  g-d it must suck to have part of your job description being to take a bullet for that fat-ass.  They don't pay you enough. They really don't.

These acts are murder. It's "domestic" terrorism. It's somewhat preventable

The one thought I had on this atrocity was if it had happened on Monday - the day before the election. How would it have changed voting habits?  Would Ted Cruz - the NRA's biggest congressional recipient of NRA funds - would have that that extra 1.9% over Beto?  I'm thinking there'd have been a strong showing of support to not cast a ballot his way.

12 more dead. Apparently, enough is not enough.

Hate on Me

Can someone tell me where the dipshit first daughter (no, not you Tiffany.......not this time) and her creepy automaton Jew of a husband have been holed-up for the last few days?

Let's pretend the pipe bombs to current and previous government leaders didn't happen (or that somehow mid-level 1990s Three Doors Down somehow didn't get dragged(?) into that scenario) or that some white guy shot black folks in a grocery store because he couldn't work a door at black church.

I would say it's harder to ignore 11 killed at temple. I'd say when it is the deadliest attack on Jews in the United States.

It should be said again:  THE deadliest attack on Jews in the U.S.  Ever.

News programs aren't really saying that. Here and there, but they're kind of burying that fact.

The media and the FBI called the mail bombs 'domestic terrorism'.  You can slap that this motherfucker in Pittsburgh too.  It's religious terror too.

The Anti-Defamation League logged a 57 percent rise in anti-Semitic incidents in the United States in 2017, compared to the previous year - and the largest increase since they started tracking 30 year ago.

Pop Quiz, hotshots:   What happened in 2017 that might allow for the meteoric rise in Jew-hating?   It may or may not have happened on or around January 20th.

BLOTUS' comment this not happening if the temple and it's members had just been armed themselves.

What. The. Fuck.

As someone on the interwebs said:  if the freedom to practice your religion requires a gun for protection, it's no long freedom of religion.

This rhetoric is nothing new for this shell of a 'man'......or anyone else in the NRA's pocketbook. Yet people buy it hook-line-sinker. Or enough of them do.

710 accurately said the other day - there is disbelief and no longer a call to action. There was plenty for a school in Florida just eight months ago - but where it is the outrage now?  Could it really be because it was Jewish related?  If so, I'm horribly sickened.

So I'll ask again:  where is the faux-Heeb first daughter?  Where is that dweeb-heeb of a son-in-law? They're Jewish when it suits them, but not enough to stand up - publicly - to denounce this behaviour that her father won't. They don't dare not tow the line

No doubt the two of them will tag along on a trip to Pittsburgh - a trip the city and the synagogue don't want to happen - and make a display and mockery of themselves and their faux-caring.

While some Jews do not believe in Hell, Jared better hope one doesn't exist.......because if there is, they got a place waiting for him.  Ivanka too, but in the shiksa section.

Love & Hate

Admittedly, this isn't my story to tell. Nor do I actually know it - not really.

Erik posted a blurb about how times have not changed. Attacked he was, Monday night (possibly Tuesday morning), by two guys as he left a bar.

I don't know all the deets - as the kids say - but a friend came to the 'rescue', though both of them ended up in the emergency room.

At some point, the cops must have arrived, as all were given tickets since the po-po said they couldn't determine who did what.

Erik points out the attackers used the "f-word", so I can assume that it probably wasn't 'fortuitous'.

In the big scheme of things, as far as the law is concerned, I don't know it would matter if they / he was called 'faggot', as Arkansas has no hate crime law.

I know - you're shocked, aren't you?

Erik's tale was a distressing thing to read at 06:00, and I'm sure way harder to go through.

It is a sucky way to be reminded for as far as we've come in the last 25 years, how minuscule it actually has been. Today's environment - for the last few years (when did BLOTUS start campaigning?) there has been a definite back-slide.

Here is hoping for a quick recovery - for both Erik and the nation.

50,000 Watts

Not only is J.J. Watt hot, talented and genuinely seems like a decent guy, he's a do-gooder too.

While looking to raise $200,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief last year, he ended up raising $37,000,000 instead. And he help load the trucks, not just for a photo op.

He's doing one better for the families of victims in Santa Fe, TX.  ....if you can call this 'better'.  Watt is paying for the funerals for all the victims.

It's nice move in what should be an unnecessary gesture.

I'd say another school shooting shouldn't have happened, but here we are.....like clockwork.  Since nothing has been done since the last 429 school shootings, why would anyone think it wouldn't happen again........and again........and again.

We have the usual dipshit politicians weighing in, of course. Again, just like clockwork.  The Lt. Governor of Texas - because the actual governor can't speak up? - citing too many exits and entrances in schools.

Guns don't kill people; too much egress does.  Of course, he's missing the obvious:  When (not if) a gunman got into the school, the students / targets are trapped with no way out.  Yeah Yeah - I know he meant only having one access point in, I'm assuming.  But you have to have multiple exits, so really, where there's a will, there's a way.

The bigger political jackass of course is BLOTUS. His insistence after the Parkland, FL shooting that something had to be done.  His snubbing of those students in person and then at the NRA national meeting where he puckered up, then extended his tongue firmly and deeply up their anuses.

He will be no change-agent when it comes to gun control, but of course, he had the fucking audacity to say, "This has been going on too long in our country. Too many years. Too many decades now.”

Is he fucking serious? Is he the last to know?

Grow up folks - he's placating you. He doesn't give a shit about school shootings unless it's about arming teachers and making sure the NRA is still happy. They're just words.....not even good ones.

So now the countdown clock has been reset. The silver lining is school is almost out for the year. So I guess - watch out churches!

Kids in America

True that, lady I took this picture of.  True that.

Yesterday was the Marches for our Lives. While I didn't go to DC, that would have rocked.

Did anyone else go?

While rallies are not always my thing, I felt this one was a need to attend. We couldn't figure out what to do with Shep, so 710 stayed back with him and I went solo.

While walking from car to rally, I ran into a friend, who was meeting up with his husband, so we made it a threesome.

Well 3+10,000 maybe?

Somewhere in all of this, I forgot it was about the children.

Yes, they're our future, blah blah blah. I knew it was spurred from the Parkland shooting, but with all the adults on-board, I forgot about the kids.

It became apparent shortly after the rally truly kicked off.

But first - David and I walked up, looking for James. we speculated the crowd might be at 5,000. I think we were off, as we got more into the crowd.....and then the crowds just kept coming. Not bad for a day that was maybe 34 degrees.  Maybe. But it was sunny and blue sky.

Then the rally started. We were maybe two-thirds back from the presentation area, but with the intro, you could barely hear a word. We weren't sure if the PA system wasn't working, if there was a PA system or if the girl was just a low-talker.

The mayor got up and low-talked too, but that is his thing. Speaker after speaker couldn't quite get it together and 10k folks with no port-a-potties. My inner-Miranda Priestly came outter.....and I said to David, "It's just baffling to me. Why is it so impossible to put together a decent rally? You people have had hours and hours to prepare. It's just so confusing to me."  David got the reference and laughed.  Phew.

All but three of the speakers were high school students. Some were good. Some were not. Some were reading what was inevitably their college entrance essay, some pulled quips off of memes from the internet and forced them into a speech. One kid was clearly writing his introductions speech to his future PAC.

That said - all of them had at least a few good points (though the chick from Bryn Mawr was out of place. Hers was about education and race. I think she could have made a decent analogy if she had tried, but she didn't......make the analogy or try).

I think my favourite line from a girl who goes to public school was, "my dress code is tougher than Ohio's gun laws".  For. The. Win.

I did like the speaker who pretty much skipped the 'we will vote' to 'we will run'.  Or the girl who mentioned that their generation is the 'most education, most diverse' group in history. This can only bode well. Another mentioned how anyone taking NRA money will not get their vote.

Later in the day, I was uplifted to see DC's march had 800,000 participants.

I wonder how our elected officials were feeling yesterday. Or the NRA - though they put out some vile sound bytes. You know how wounded animals strike out?  That.

I am glad I went. It was important to do. Finally - someone is thinking about the children.  And it is the children.

UPDATE:  there were an estimated 20,000 marching in the 216 yesterday!
