Racism

Just to recap on my Roseanne post yesterday:

  • Barr didn't leave Twitter.  Called it.
  • BLOTUS' weighed-in.....and it's all about him. Shocking!   Called it.

Her Ambien excuse was hysterical. Ambien's response was better.

Sounds like Roseanne went on a Twitter tear, reaming out many of her (ex) cast members who were appalled by her rants. She didn't appreciate that. Apparently to work with her, you have to agree with her shit too.

Oh - and her talent agency canned her ass too.

I did make the mistake of reading some of her supporters shit.  Do. Not. Do. That.

They're talking about all this fall-out from "one offensive comment".   Really!

Do you think Barr knows she wasn't really talking about Jarret's "looks" with a Planet of the Apes comment? It has zero to do with 'looks'.   These are the same primate comments that other right-wingers used for the Obamas.   ....but it's standard and accepted behaviour now.

Yes, she lost her job. She'll get another gig and faster that Kathy Griffin did after cutting off BLOTUS' head.  It only took the Dixie Chicks 13 years to have a sold out concert series after saying they were 'embarrassed' by the President. No name-calling. Nothing vulgar. Nothing racist.  ....and yet they're still not back on radio.  .....but "liberals" are the ones pushing the agenda with ABC and cancelling the series.  {sigh}

This folks, is how hypocrisy works.

I have to say - this year I wasn't really into this Pic a Day thing.  I'll have to give this serious thought next year.

Unlearn This Hatred

First off - I have to hand it to ABC / Disney for cancelling Roseanne.  I mean, they should have done it because it was so poorly written and acted (full disclosure: I only saw the first episode), but I'll take on the racist tweet thing too.

By all accounts, it was a 'hit'. Allegedly 17 million viewers per week.....on network television. That's no small feat in the time of streaming.  I figured with the advertising dollars allegedly pouring in, that ABC would look the other way.  It's not like they didn't know their star and how she acted and the things she wrote and in which she believed. I mean...........tick tick tick........

It gets better though - TVLand, Paramount and others are pulling the Roseanne re-runs. Good for them.

Secondly - who knew that Tom Arnold would actually be the funny one in that 'family. C'mon - you know you quote his Austin Powers lines about the 'show that turd who's boss' and 'how about a courtesy flush'.  Admit it.

I'll be honest - I saw the tweet about Valerie Jarret, but I don't why it appeared in the first place. Has anyone even heard her name since Obama left office? And can you name one thing she actually did while Obama was IN office?   No.  Me neither.

Barr isn't very timely - unless Jarret did something of note recently.

I'm sure there is Twitter / right wing press fall-out. I'm sure someone is whining about "1st amendment'....blah blah blah.  She can say whatever the fuck she wants - and did, I might add. It doesn't mean there are not consequences.  Do the Dixie Chicks ring any bells for these people?

And if I remember my recent history - 'free speech' in the form of silent protests at NFL games were doled out punishments - and I'm guessing the same folks decrying ABC's decision are the same who were for the NFL punishment.

They won't see that.  They don't see it. They never do.

Barr also claimed she was leaving Twitter - and maybe she is, but her account isn't deleted, so........I don't think we've heard the last of her.

Nor do I think BLOTUS will be quiet about it either, as he'll see it as an affront do him.....somehow. And maybe this is about him. Maybe, just maybe, people are not going tolerate this racist shit anymore.

In a sick, twisted kind of way, I'm ok with hundreds of people being out of work due to her.  I'm glad Wanda Sykes quit before ABC quit Roseanne. If she was a friend or colleague of Barr's, maybe, just maybe, this will strike a chord with Barr.

As for the gaffers, craft services, camera men, editors, actors, musicians, publicists, show runners, directors of lighting, writers, etc. Too bad. I get for some of you it was just a job, or a paycheck. But you knowingly hitched your wagon to someone who is a bigoted person - who says nasty things and then faux apologizes......sometimes.  And some of you wrote those horrid jokes that appeared in the first episode.

But if BLOTUS wants to tout being a job creator, he can also then be credited for being a job destroyer.  Maybe, come November, some of his other 'friends' and supporter will be out of a job too.

I'm on E

It was time.

I alluded to it the other day when I mentioned my 'e' was not functioning properly. One must hit it 3-4 times before said letter would appear.

......until it didn't.  Anymore.

As it was, before this I was debating just having the battery replaced, as I couldn't keep a charge longer than an hour. So continually it remained plugged in.

Some of the keys identifier has been worn away. If you weren't familiar with a keyboard, you'd have been screwed.

Still, my MacBook Air lived a long life. It was almost 7 years old, and came my way from being robbed and having almost our electronics stolen.........then replaced. It served me well.  If nothing else you got 2,762 blog posts from it - including the vlogs.  .....and yes, I did the math.

And since I did the math, it comes out to paying about $0.39 / day for the computer. That's less than Sally Struthers' plea to help feed folks in the third world.

On Sunday, I ventured up to Apple to replace. They didn't have to sell me on anything really.  I knew a MacBook Pro was not on my list. If I truly used a Mac for my work, I would have, but I just use it as my computer when I log in remotely. This is not my last job, where I lived on that one. So it really came down the the MacBook and the Air.

The Air had an inch bigger screen, but weighed almost a pound more. The MacBook is a scant 2.03 lbs.  I eat more than that at dessert.  The Air I had wasn't really that big, but when you look at them side-by-side in that pic, it looks ginormous.

Oh - I went with the MacBook.

There is no wasted space here. That 1/2" you have at the side of the keyboard of the Air is gone. So are the ports. I have two:  one of headphones and one for power.  There is no supported USB port, which might be problematic, but we will see.  There are ways around that.  But I don't use USB that much anymore.

The screen is amazing. Or at least really nice. I like the keyboard a lot. But I'm finding set-up to my Mac has less than intuitive. 710 is my IT guy and he's struggling a little.

My desktop, contacts, calendar and documents came over immediately.  My documents have not come over. Nor have some apps.  Also missing:  all my photos.  Oh - and my music. Well, 97.65%.

Purchased iTunes music from 2017-present shows. Anything before that does not. Nor does the other 16k songs from my liberry. I'm trying to work through that without having to go to the 'Genius' bar. Alas, I fear that is in my future.

I have zero need for my old Air.  Gazelle will pay me $250 for the old one.  They don't know the battery is shot and the 'e' doesn't work.

Buyer beware.

My Music Monday

My FB selection selections.  the Smiths the Queen is Dead was my third album choice.

There are lots of good Smiths disks, but in my mind - and a lot of my friends - there isn't really a better one.

Sure sure - Morrissey sings about how lonely and miserable he is, but that's his schtick. You just have to roll with it.

I honestly tried to choose any other song from this disk than the one I did. Don't get me wrong, I think "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" is one the top 50 best songs of all times, but that might just be me.

Not everyone want to hear a song about suicidal ideations with a 10 ton truck, but yet it is so beautifully done. Honest.

Ad of the Month

I hate-love this commercial.

It's not that I care it's about women's contraception.  Au contraire mon frère. I'm all for them if it means less kids running around.

I think I hate it because they make women look stupid that they cannot remember they actually went to a doctor's office to get an implant put in their arm and filed the paperwork to have it paid for, or to pay for it themselves......you know, if they work at Hobby Lobby.

It's a one minute ad, but feel free to start at the 0:48 second mark. It really shows the part I like. A woman who could barely scrape by as a below average Giada De Laurentiis look-a-like, who meets her date and panics, then shows relief when she remembers that she can fuck him.

The biggest flaw is she's gonna give it up for such a milquetoast guy - but it might be the best can she do.

I'm Not Sleepy

It is a Shep heavy day - what can I say. I know we have Sophie fans here.....she'll make an appearance, but I promise more of her later.

Squirrel huntin'.
Yes, the grass is that green lately.

Taking a beach break with a nuclear power plant in the distance.

Unconditional Love.
Shep just rests his snout on 710's shoulder while he drives. I love their love.

Tired. But not enough to not be part of the action.

My sister stretching after tennis.  Shep joins in on the act.
Shep is beyond excited to see her every week.  ....and vice versa.

....and the queen bee!

Too Young to Kneel

Ahhhh.....nothing says love of country more than forced patriotism.

The NFL is the biggest bunch of pussies I've ever had the pleasure of not meeting.

If you're a rapist, a murderer, assault your wife, have dogs fight to their death, rob folks, drive drunk, get high, assault your wife again - well, you're still good for their starting line up.

If you kneel during the national anthem, well..... you're shit out of luck.

If you kneel, the player and the team are subject to an NFL fine - though it seems the dollar amount is uncertain. The teams themselves can also discipline any offending player.

All of this was owner agreed to, no player involvement. Shocking.

The owners would rather bow to BLOTUS' criticisms than support their players. Scratch that - the owners would rather bow to the greenback a-dollar than support the players - you know, the guys that play the game that provide them greenbacks.  But BLOTUS supporters will financially hurt the ad revenue, so it all ties.

Yeah - I get that NFL teams are private companies and are not bound by the first amendment, but still, it is not a great example they're setting.

Oh, there is a compromise:  player can sit out the anthem in the locker room. Yes, a peaceful, invisible protest. I think that's what Rosa Parks did.

IF the NFL were so damned serious about "the anthem", cameras should be turned to the flag and only the flag. No panning through the crowds and the sidelines which are filled with product placement. It's not about Gatorade, it's about the fucking flag, people!

And shouldn't the fans be forced - yes forced - to watch the anthem. No talking. No drinking. No going out to buy 22oz beers and food. Shut down the concessions until the anthem is over.

Ohhhhhhhhh......right.   $$$$$$.    How quickly I forgot.

What I don't get - and I don't - is that save for the San Francisco 49ers  (where this all started with Colin Kaepernick ) who abstained from the vote, the vote for these rules were unanimous.  That's not the part I don't get.  The New York Jets co-owner said he would pay the fines if the players don't choose to stand.

DUDE!  I guess nice work on that one, but where was that fucking backbone during the vote??

Here's the way to win - if you're a player. Every one of them, take a knee. Every week. The rub is - the NFL can't play without the players. They can't play with a bunch of 3rd and 4th stringers. Well they can, but no one is gonna watch that shit.

The video below is quite awesome. I'm not a Golden State Warrior fan, but their coach, Steve Kerr, used to play for the Cavs. I love how he bashes - nicely - the NFL. And he's right to do it.

I'm tired of the 'disrespecting the troops'.  I'm sorry - I didn't realize the American flag was for them and them only. If you want to respect America, then do it for all of what it means. And since there isn't a law against kneeling, sitting or taking off your hat, then shut the fuck up.

I find it laughable that BLOTUS thinks the flag and anthem need respect when he does not give the country, or anyone else, respect. He doesn't know the meaning of the word.

Hellbent

It all is beginning to make sense.

You've no doubt heard about the "sinkhole" on the grounds of the White House.  But is it?

Picture it: Sunnydale High Schools library. A seemingly uninteresting place, yet underneath it lurks the portal to Hell.

That's no sinkhole at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave - it's Hellmouth.

When you think about it - all that evil concentrated in one place, how could it not summon the devil?

Make no mistake, BLOTUS thinks he's the ruler of the netherworld, but in reality, BLOTUS is Satan's butt-boy. Forget Russia rigging the election, look no further than Beelzebub getting his minion where he needed to be to start the beginning of the end.

It's all so obvious now.

....and you morons thought it's just a sinkhole.   #fakenews!

My only wonder is:  where is Buffy when you need her?

Shake it Up

I really got nothing.

Lava.  FBI.  BLOTUS.  Blech.

As we ignored watching the Cavs play game 4 the other night (they lose when I watch), we were channel surfing. One station plays multiple Family Guy episodes in a row.

Yeah yeah - I know, none of you say you like it. The show has its moments. Take for instance the one episode of one of Peter's white shirts.

Honest to g-d, I could not stop laughing.....that is after my jaw came up off the floor.

the Cost

Yesterday (well, today actually - but when you read this it will be 'yesterday') I was IM'ing with my friend Rebecca.  I not only wanted to axe her something, but to try out a what I thought was funny Facebook post.

I'm not sure she found it amusing as I did.  Folks rarely do.

It involved pictures I took of myself  in a Barnes & Nobel (no....not like that).  She asked if I took them over to art history section so no one would see me.  Pfffft.  I said due to blogging and the iPhone, I have little to no shame in when I take a pic, or of whom.

That led to her comment that my blog entries have been less personal lately.  I never thought about it, but I suppose it's true. It used to be a post where I'd get on my soap box her and there, but then 11/8/2016 happened.

I suppose BLOTUS is somewhat to blame if I'm not as personal in my writing. Work is a part of that too. I seem to have little personal life that doesn't include dog walks.  I'm not complaining.....about the dog adventures, that is. I will continue to complain about BLOTUS.

I've taken to watching random YouTube clips from the West Wing. It oddly makes me feel better.  It soothes me, where I can almost believe there is some kind of hope out there. At least it does if you stay away from that horrid partial season where John Goodman becomes president. No. Really. I shit you not.

We, as a couple, really haven't done anything too exciting to even writ about. We are planning out summer get away, so I'm excited for that. We've opted not to go to Maine this year.  We will give the state a break...........and Mike too. Somewhere he's breathing a huge sigh of relief, while yet still trying to hold back his tears.

So we will see about my blog being more personal. As I type this it is more about a new lap top.  This is six years old and I cannot tell you how many times I've had to go back and type an 'e', as they're not just taking on the first try.  ....and it doesn't keep a charge.

This blog is pricey!

My Music Monday

I'm doing the 10 songs from 10 albums selected for a FB challenge for music from your formative years.

Blondie has five great albums and a bunch more that range from good to not so good. I'd say it is hard to pick the best one, as they can be so different in style.

That said, I did pick Autoamerican (1980). I know I've already featured two songs from the disk here: "Europa" and "Here's Looking at You".  Everyone already knows "the Tide is High" and "Rapture".

This time I'm highlighting "Go Through It".  It's got a good beat, but it comes down to the horns - Mexican in their style, they truly positively accentuate the song.  To me, this is one to crank up.

50,000 Watts

Not only is J.J. Watt hot, talented and genuinely seems like a decent guy, he's a do-gooder too.

While looking to raise $200,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief last year, he ended up raising $37,000,000 instead. And he help load the trucks, not just for a photo op.

He's doing one better for the families of victims in Santa Fe, TX.  ....if you can call this 'better'.  Watt is paying for the funerals for all the victims.

It's nice move in what should be an unnecessary gesture.

I'd say another school shooting shouldn't have happened, but here we are.....like clockwork.  Since nothing has been done since the last 429 school shootings, why would anyone think it wouldn't happen again........and again........and again.

We have the usual dipshit politicians weighing in, of course. Again, just like clockwork.  The Lt. Governor of Texas - because the actual governor can't speak up? - citing too many exits and entrances in schools.

Guns don't kill people; too much egress does.  Of course, he's missing the obvious:  When (not if) a gunman got into the school, the students / targets are trapped with no way out.  Yeah Yeah - I know he meant only having one access point in, I'm assuming.  But you have to have multiple exits, so really, where there's a will, there's a way.

The bigger political jackass of course is BLOTUS. His insistence after the Parkland, FL shooting that something had to be done.  His snubbing of those students in person and then at the NRA national meeting where he puckered up, then extended his tongue firmly and deeply up their anuses.

He will be no change-agent when it comes to gun control, but of course, he had the fucking audacity to say, "This has been going on too long in our country. Too many years. Too many decades now.”

Is he fucking serious? Is he the last to know?

Grow up folks - he's placating you. He doesn't give a shit about school shootings unless it's about arming teachers and making sure the NRA is still happy. They're just words.....not even good ones.

So now the countdown clock has been reset. The silver lining is school is almost out for the year. So I guess - watch out churches!

South of the Border (Down Mexico Way)

My g-d..........what a pussy.

But now he's a pussy who will be embraced by the alt-right. He's a pussy who will get right-wingers' business. He'll be the face of immigration concerns.  It's no longer a wall - it's SuperJew, Aaron Schlossberg who'll be the talking point going forward.......for a while.

His rant in the restaurant wasn't his only video'd encounter with someone he thought was non and un American. Oh no. Videos are surfacing. This guy is just a dick.

I do love how people found him out in about 0.003 seconds: name. work. house.  I love how reporters stalked him out......followed him, badgered him, but with a lot less tenacity and vulgarness than he has displayed.

Oh - and the website for his office infers Español is spoken.......and he's happy to take the money of those clients who speak it the language. So why so hostile, Mr. Schlossberg?

(btw......his phone number is on the website. Feel free to call the number often.....and at inconvenient hours. Tell him I sent ya!)

I like that from whomever he was leasing his office space kicked his ass the the curb. That will come back to bite them, unfortunately. Not by Schlossberg himself, but the angry angry mobs that think like him.

What I cannot believe is that someone hasn't already rooted through ancestry.com or Ellis Island to figure out when his family emigrated here, which probably goes back two generations or less.  Because if you're truly going to shame him - find out his probable wretched past. His future is probably already set.

Shopping with Blobby

Yet another installment in the drudgery that is everyday shopping. The camera-phone makes it a bit more fun - though I get looks whenever I take pics of products. Like I care what people think!

Granted this isn't every day shopping.  It's royal related.  Or is it Royal?  Should it be upper cased?

As you all prepare for "the" wedding this weekend, and for all of you who are hoping some day your prince will come..........just make sure he's wearing this.....

Hehehehe........Crown Jewels.

It says the condoms are fit for a prince.  Let's hope it's not Prince George size, because that would be sad.  And wrong.

Poor Harry - they don't seem to be Magnum sized. XL that is, not PI.

I think they need to work on their marketing campaign. I'm not 100% sure (actually, I am!) that doing that thing in quotes would be equal to taking a viagra.  Probably quite the opposite.  Monty Python, Harry Potter, Oasis and corgis don't really make me go full-mast.

....and let's hope these rubbers work. A friend's mother-in-law is worried that a mixed-race child will ruin the monarchy.  I'm thinking Meg(h)an is 34.........she should hope she can get pregnant at all.  I mean....tick tick tick.

The biggest upside to these Crowned Jewels?  JP can finally retire those Charles & Camilla prophylactics.

I Hear a Call

When in doubt: double down.

So says the White House without actually saying it.

For the record - that person who joked about McCain dying?  Not reprimanded nor apologized. The potential leaker(s)? : "traitors and cowards".

Yup, that sounds about right.

For full disclosure, I too have jabbed at McCain's illness - but not in relation to pass a nominee vote.

Some aides can say what they want about others (i.e. McCain), but if some aides say stuff about WH  to others, they're traitors.  Oh, and cowards.

Buy oy, the phone ban in the White House. Staffers must have them locked up all day, only to retrieve them upon leaving the premises.  Better yet - there are suited men, walking through the White House with devices that can detect and search out phones that people bring in by "accident".  They actually confiscate their phones.

It's like a mini-Poland circa 1939 in the West and East wing.

What I absolutely love about the flaw in this plan is just so fucking obvious:  the / a leak doesn't have to be during work hours. It probably never was.  If I'm dropping a story to Buzzfeed or WaPo, I can just as easily call  / email / text them after I'm walking home or on the Metro.  The chances of you doing it when you can be overheard by your co-workers or boss lessen the chances you're doing it right then and there.

I suppose, there is that little thing about free speech too, though the staff are probably forced to sign Non Disparaging Agreements, though I don't know it's disparaging to repeat something offensive, unethical or illegal.  Though clearly it's frowned up and repeating it is 'treasonous'.

The biggest joke of this is: had there been an apology shortly thereafter the remake became public, no one would have noticed or cared.  Now they do.

....and all because widdle BLOTUS' feelings got hurt!   What a fucking snowflake.

Troublesome Waters

I can't even start with dipshit Jared, dipshit Ivanka and some dipshit evangelical preacher over in Israel who thinks all Jews are going to hell to open the new Embassy.

I do like how the media reports they're in "Jerusalem" and they barely mention the word "Israel".

But if dipshit evangelical guy really thinks these things, why would Ivanka and Jared want him there?  Why would he want to be around them?

Anyway...........today is about another dipshit:  Michael Phelps.

I totally totally totally get his campaign for brushing teeth and saving water. Allegedly 42% of all Americans leave the faucet running while they brush their teeth - except you in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi - where we know you don't brush......or floss.....or have teeth.

If you brush for two minutes (and my motorized toothbrush says I do!), you waste 4 gallons of water - or what Phelps calls "one of the most precious resources we have (and need) on Earth".

Clearly, it's not a horrible idea to only turn on the water to rinse out your mouth and save some H20.  I think it would just come better by someone who didn't use multiple olympic sized pools, each with 660,000 gallons of it, throw in chlorine and other chemicals to lecture me on the waste of water.

Mike thinks we should all take shorter showers to 'save water'.

I get the irony that he needed to swim in a minimum of 17 olympic sized pools since 2000 to raise awareness about water conservation. That's 11,220.000 gallons of water right there.  But does he get it?

For the record, if I wasted 4 gallons of water brushing my teeth (which I don't), twice a day (which I do), I'd have to live 3,843 years to use the amount in which he has swam.

My Music Monday

A college friend 'tagged' me in a FB thingy to name 10 albums that had an influence on your formative years.  I was happy to take that one up - though hard to limit it to 10.

And 'formative years'? Am I still not forming?

Be it as it may, for the next 10 weeks, you'll get one selection from each of the disk I choose for this FB thingy.

First up?  Marti Jones from her 1986 disk, Match Game.  I still frickin' love this album. There are no hits - radio or otherwise.  I went with "Inside These Arms", but there isn't a bad track on the disk.

12 of 12

So I'm doing my 98th 12 of 12.

Normally it is 12 pictures taken on the 12th of the month. Since I only post once per day, you get my images the following day. All pictures taken with my iPhone. Click images to enlarge, if you choose.

Created by Chad Darnell and picked up from, what I can tell, any number of random bloggers who then link back to him and vice versa. Chad is no longer doing this, nor is successor coordinating the linking of other 12 of 12'ers anymore. Now it's just Erik and myself - that I know of.....as it's the only blog post he's still doing......for now.

I still continue to do this, because of all my consistent post topics, I actually like this one the most.

04:02.   Wake Up #1   (the clock is 9 minutes fast)
Somewhere JP just passed out.

06:10.  Wake Up #2.
Someone had to get up and pee.  So then I just took him out too.

07:30.   Chicken for 2nd breakfast.
Had to hide pills before going to the vet.

08:30.  Vet time for a nail trim.
The anti-anxiety medicine we have to give prior to that did not work this go-round.

08:45.  Yes, I spent 13.87 on b'fast sammiches and doughnuts.  Sue me.

10:20.  First load of laundry complete - but not put away.

12:05. Outdoors while Mr. Shep pees. Spring sprang.

13:55.  ....and then the rains came.
Maybe they're into yoga. Or perhaps menstruating.

15:30.  a Very Late Lunch.
We picked up Jersey Mike's on the way home from checking on my mom.  Meh.

19:10.  Shep almost religiously eats dinner between 17:30-18:00.  But he didn't remind me - and I didn't remember until after 7p.  Bad dad!

21:50.  Coffee Addiction.
Not mine, but 710's. I'm just an enabler.

21:55.  Weekly Medications.
I'm down to two per day. AARP and big pharma would be disappointed

That's it.  No Baker's Dozen. It was a cold, rainy Saturday.  I didn't get out much.
