What the hell is up w/Madonna and rapping? 'Pliates-lattes-shotties-hotties-bodies'? She makes 'moon-june-spoon' seem downright eloquent. She also makes true rappers really seem like artists.

The 'man' has NO shame. None. Nil. Zero. Zilch.

(AP) WASHINGTON, April 21 President Bush advisers have drafted a re-election strategy built around staging the latest nominating convention in the party's history, allowing Mr. Bush to begin his formal campaign near the third anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and to enhance his fund-raising advantage, Republicans close to the White House say.
Thanks to Rebecca for pointing me toward Jim Brady's site. A NYT article sites legislation that will grant the gun industry nationwide immunity from virtually all lawsuits. Guess that's the govt's way of saying, "Take *that* Columbine!"

I think it's safe to say the demise of Freedom of Information Act can't be too too far behind this. Sad. Sad. Sad.

(part 7 and final) MORTY DID IT !!!! (as if we had any doubt). 03:52:52 (chip time - whatever the difference is was 03:49:04). 7534 out of 17566 who started. CONGRATULATIONS MORT. We're all so proud of you.
(pt 6) OH - he's so close. 35K @ 3:03:01!!! GO MORTY!!
(pt 5) Morty @ the half-way mark: 1:45:17 EXCELLENT!!!!!! ...but I don't think he's gonna win it.
(pt 4) He's hit the 15K mark @ 1:14:03 (ain't the internet great?)
(pt 3)...and just 49 minutes into it, Morty hits the 10K mark. Will Ferrell - nowhere to be seen.
(pt 2)
Morty makes it to the 5K in 0:24:08. At this rate he'll make his projected time of 3:30:00 - actually better than that. Will Ferrll (ex-SNL) doesn't seem to have made it to the 5 K mark yet.
BOSTON MARATHON
....and they're off. Well....8 minutes ago. Can you believe Morty hasn't completed the first 5K? What a slacker!!!!! I hope he at least caught up w/the people in the wheelchairs.

Question posed in the Cleveland Plain Dealer (like Monday Moanings - but more specific): What should the United States do about Syria.

Answer #1: "I think we shoud use all the leftover bombs - the ones we used against Iraq and all the ones we captured from Iraq - and bomb Syria with them."
Answer #2: "It's very simple: They're next, and anyone else who wants to follow."
Answer #3: "...Go get 'em, Mr. Bush."

Sometimes I hate living in Ohio. I say - let Mr. Shrub 'got get 'em'. But no one else should unless Mr. Shrub goes himself.
What the hell is Donald Rumsfeld doing at a Washington Wizards game? Well, for one, apparently not paying attention to any defense issues the country might have. Secondly - presenting Michael Jordan with a flag that flew over the Pentagon. I guess that must be for all the years MJ served in the armed forces.
Jesus is a bit more athletic than I ever imagined. He doesn't seem to need any protective gear - but then again, he's Jesus. But then by that measure, he really wouldn't need ski poles either - would he?

So now that we pretty much have a new U.S. Territory in Iraq, it seems we're on to Syria. Voila, now Syria is supposedly hoarding and/or creating weapons of mass destruction. What a shock! What a surprise!! You know, just like ALL the WMD we found in Iraq. Just like ALL those chemical and biological agents and all those nuclear arms. Now we're going to threaten and eventually take Syria for the exact same 'reason'?

WHEN will someone call the Bush administration on this? Since the american media seems to be controlled by our government lately, I'll assume it won't be them. They trot out the pictures and the stories Shrub wants us to see (flowers for all the soldiers from the Iraqi people.....yay! our heroes!!!).

I'll also assume that Shrub & Co. figure they have the armed forces over there anyway - there's no reason not to get the most out of them, since we paid billions to ship them there in the first place.

Look out Iran - it seems you'll be next !!!! Hell, the same probably goes for you Jordan, Egypt, Greece & Luxembourg too.

I'm a busy 'lil blogger today. I saw a news blurb earlier, but Denton (thanks, once again) directed me to this link from The Nation. Hot Dogs, Censorship and Apple Pie, indeed.
MS Word trick of the day (thanks to Denton): When creating a Word document w/a table, try this: type +-----------+------------+-----------+ then hit 'enter'
Haven't really looked at any of the news sites today - but had a meeting with some security folks (who are not prone to paranoia) and they truly believe that SARS is laboratory-made attempt as a Weapon of Mass Destruction that went ka-flooey. You know, even in this day and age, it never occured to me that this might be the cause of SARS. I wouldn't say I'm the most trusting soul around (agreed, everyone?), so I guess I'll just chalk it up to possible stupidity on my part.

Altered State of the Union address. Or IS it?
If you ever want to hear someone from the GOP so blinded by his party and towing their line and take a listen to Congressman Jack Kingston's laughable (not intentional) rant about how Europe has made the U.S. look bad in the eyes of the world with anti-American rhetoric. Go here for the audio.

Oh - that line from the Mary Tyler Moore show keeps creeping in to my head. It's an episode when WJM is supposed to go to the Teddy awards, and Mary has a cold. And Mary says about colds: 3 days coming. 3 days with you. 3 days going. Well, I'm on day 8. Could this possibly mean only one more day to go?

I'm tired of Jessica Lynch. Or, I'm tired of media talking about Jessica Lynch. I think the Matt & Katie Show had 30 minutes exclusively about her. It stopped being 'news' (if you can even call it that) 2 days ago. ...and would it be this much infotainment if it were a man? The networks are whores.
Just back from seeing Annie Lennox in concert in Detriot. Scary town, that Detroit, but the concert was incredible. I love Annie Lennox and I figured - when would I get the chance to see her - since she's never really toured outside the Eurythmics. A great, albeit, short set. Only regret: that Jon couldn't have joined us.

On the way back to Cleveburgh - Denton and I stopped by the neighborhood I lived in from ages 2-5. Many things have changed in the last 34 yrs - but amazingly, just as many have not. No maps. No directions. And I got there just fine. I guess that's the blessing/curse of my memory.
