Run the World (Girls)
It's been bad enough that an old English university tells it like it is - even though it is just a false statement. They just define the terms, not create them.
Unfortunately, SCOTUS now gets to weigh in on this.
A private school is trying to require women to wear skirts. I get it's a forced dress code issue, but it goes to a different level.
O.M.F.G.
I get it's the South and they are a genteel folk, and well, fucking backwards.
There are four female Supreme Court justices, I'd like to think that even Amy Barrett would take offense to that...........but she'd probably take it as a compliment
It is truly shameful that people think about women this way in this day and age. But these are the same people who wonder what women were wearing when they are sexually assaulted, as surely they must have brought in on themselves.
Forget that the skirts in which the must wear to school sexualizes the women to the male population and enforces oh so many stereotypes. I suppose school administration doesn't think the women will notice, as they'll be in Home Ec class much of the time trying to learn how to keep a nice home for her husband.
The women at this school, or anywhere, don't deserve "gentle treatment" from their male classmates. They need to be treated with dignity and respect..........and to not attempt rape. They are not less than.
The school administration is. Perhaps SCOTUS too.......depending on how they vote.

Killing Time
While yes, social media is all over this - it's unclear if some of the below are even true.
The Georgia governor signed the bill, stating: “to ensure that all Georgians have the opportunity to live, grow, learn and prosper in our great state.”.
OMFG. I don't know it for sure, but he's probably against public funding, food stamps and sex education in schools. ....and he means all white Georgians, btw.
If actually true, the bill goes into effect January 1, 2020........because...........the law can’t take effect until January because it categorizes fetuses as “minor dependents” under the Internal Revenue Code. I shit you not. Does this mean child support from absentee fathers starts at 6 weeks old too?
One thing I haven't looked up - doctors who perform the abortions....what are their punishments?
Anyhoo.......some social media items from this all.

March Into the Sun
By all accounts, Cleveland had a decent turn out for the Women's March. Clearly not as big as those aforementioned cities. Even my sister-in-law went to the one in Charleston. And I had friends or family who attended in New York, San Jose, Columbus, Portland and Atlanta as well.
There were also a bunch to headed to DC for the main event. I mean, after all, it was deemed, the Women's March on Washington. The DC Metro reported that yesterday, there was 82,000 more riding their trains than on inauguration day.
Allegedly there were over a half-millions people at the DC march (some reports of 650k). So many so, that people didn't wait for the official route, as it moved to slow and took over other avenues and streets.
I certainly didn't see these crowd numbers along what few images I saw of the inaugural route. ....though Dump and his press secretary will tell you I'm
Our piddly-ass rally we went to last August. Though to be fair - the one we went to might have had more port-a-potties. ....and let's face it, the lack thereof is what would have kept me away from DC.
As it turns out, Becca and her youngest ducked out part way through the DC march. I get it. The crowd can be overwhelming. ....and well.....Madonna.
Oh Madge. All for women's rights, she is. She's all against ageism and sexism. I mean, that's what she says is the problem against her. It's not. It's her shitty music. But somethings are easier to blame, I suppose.
I'm not sure how I feel about the turn-outs in other regards.
Had this event happened the last week of October, would the election have been different? But on the other hand, did anyone believe - or want to - that Dump would be where he is now? Is that the difference? No one thought this kind of turn-out for this kind of travesty was necessary?
My big beef is the aftermath. While I think the march was great and it mattered, but the question is: to whom else?
Do you think anyone residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is going "oh nooooooo.......the women don't like me?"
The problem is - he doesn't give a fuck.
Neither do the majority who reside at the other end of the Mall. (and no, not the clerks at Things Remembered.)
Well, Dump does - in a way. It's a twisted irony with him. If he didn't care what people thought, he wouldn't tweet or speak at press events about it so much. Yet when it comes to actual action - he doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself. His supporters just don't see that yet.
The march is good for organization and a call to action, but for change in Planned Parenthood, ACA, Equal Pay or Education (just cross gun control off any list with this administration now), you're dreaming.
This fuck is going to be a long hard one. And with no lube. And it's gonna last four years.
....that said, I'm sorry I didn't go to the march. I'm not sure I could have handled being in DC with the administration - and lack of pooperies - but I'm sure I could have survived for a good cause.....and with a pack of Depends.

Strip
Every news outlet is making it a big thing - when it really kind of is not.
Tunick is doing another nude installation here, this time during the GOP convention. I suppose it is supposed to be some kind of statement.
I suppose it could be some kind of statement, if he wasn't shooting near the end of the convention timeframe and if he wasn't doing it on private property with no viewing from the public's eye.
You see - if you're not familiar with Tunick's work, he usually does mass nude photos: Paris, Buffalo, New York, Cleveland, etc - and usually with thousands of participants.
Cleveland, back in 2004, set a record number of participants (2,754), including myself.
Last time, it was all walks of life - or at least gender. This time it's just girls. Real ones, apparently.
Last time, it was open call. You showed up, signed the release, dropped your drawers and you were in the pic. This time, the women have to submit a picture to Tunick and it will be limited to 100 women - allegedly of all shapes and sizes.
Now, I totally get the idea of {and I'm making assumptions on Tunick's vision} naked women and the GOP pretty much saying what they can and cannot do with those bodies. Of course the irony is not lost on me that Tunick, a man, is picking women and, yes, at least for the installation, telling them what to do with their bodies.
It's doubtful he sees that irony.
Now if the artist wanted to make a statement, then thousands of women on the streets of Cleveland during the height of the convention makes sense. I totally get that with security, crowds and such that he would never ever ever get a permit to do his thing.
I think Tunick does some nice work and I don't doubt the images he takes will be nice, but I'm not making the GOP angle of it to be anything more than self-promotion and PR.
And for the record, of all the images taken back in 2004, this is the "official" shot.
The title image was all guys. Oh, most of them were uncomfortable about being with just guys. Too bad. And oy, was that grass cold! A lot worse than the cement in the official image.

(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
And if this doesn't sum up how the weekend will go, I'm not sure what will.
Having four sisters, I know all about the salty and sweet, boozy and napkin-y attributes that make up this time of the month. You just have to know how to off-set the loony times.
The David Letterman Film Festival entry, PMS, said, "alcohol helps takes the edge off". I know it does for somethings, but I cannot truly confirm or deny the PMS attribute. Ladies, any thoughts on this?
But to start off our weekend, which kind of began Thursday, we went out to the Grotto, where I am still the number one customer. It was a nice time with some wine and beer and food, of course.
It's a bummer I have to work today, but two of the gang can have fun while I toil away and then others will join later in the day.
