You're Gonna Get What's Coming

My first non-meme Sunday post in a long time. Honestly, I was at a loss as to what I would write, but then opportunity presented itself.

Unsurprisingly, yet continually disappointed, the number of harassing on-line posts, post election, have greatly increased. Many, if not most, about / towards women.

But please GOPers, tell me how this wasn't an election about hate.  I'm waiting.

There are hundreds or thousands of men / boys with their oh so clever, "Your Body, MY Choice" tweets, tik toks, whatever else they use posts.

You'd think it is just bravado, but when some of these are getting over a millions views and "likes", it really is fucking troublesome.

There's already a sexual offender on the Supreme Court. And if they are white boys, like Brock Turner*, clearly judges look the other way (he completed only 3 months of ONLY a 6 month sentence).  Oh - and a sex offender about to occupy the White House for a second time.  ....and he embarrassingly doesn't have the technique to fellate a microphone.

Still - while the judicial system might not punish these human garbage dumps, there are enough people (with knowhow) in society who will.  And are.

I am in awe of these women. Simply in awe.

I am still so angry these days, I have ZERO remorse or loss on conscience if they ruin his life. TOTALLY ruin it.  Family. Friends. School. Work.

I don't care if he did it as a "joke". That is now on him.

He doesn't have to be physically harmed. But I don't want him walking into his office, or a Starbucks, without having to face the women who are in those places - and hopefully the males who are allies. And here's fucking hoping his boss is female.

This feels like the first win of this week. I want the women of the web (and the men) to keep calling out these shitheads. RUIN THEM.

*I am committed to keeping Brock Turner's name out there, in about one post per year, for all search engines to keep snagging that name so everyone knows BROCK TURNER IS A RAPIST!

I'm Just Ken

The Academy Awards is still a month and a half away - which means Mike's and my 13th Annual Academy Award Guessing Game®  is a month and a half away too.

I could have sworn it was the 14th. I even told him so. 45 days seems like an eternity, mostly because of "the controversy" (you have to sing that last word like Prince though.

I sent Mike the ballot two days ago, giving him plenty of time to make his picks. Though some were made for us with the snubs of Greta Gerwig and Margo Robbie for director and actress respectively. Both still have nominations for screenplay and best picture respectively.

The Academy might (?) have it out for Gerwig. She didn't get a win (though a nod) for direction with Lady Bird a few years back - nor did she deserve one for the 114th version of Little Women a year or so ago. They did nominate a number of Best Picture entries that were directed by women. Only the director of Anatomy of a Fall has a vagina.

And you know, Gerwig can't even talk smack about the snub for fear of retribution. The joke is, Ken can - and did......because......patriarchy.

Good for Ryan.......or his publicist.

Putting this out there doesn't hurt him, as he isn't even in the top 3-4 of the 5 performances on the nominee list, as much as I like him and enjoyed his performance. Though he just might have gotten every female voting member to come to his side, so who knows.

But back to the Best Picture nominees. Of the 10, three of them are directed by women, only one being giving a director slot.

I know most of the Academy is made of old white men, but Scorsese (an old white man)........again?  Mike called the watching of the Flower Moon thingy the longest week of his life. Even I gotta give him props for even attempting it. Ricky Gervais made a joke a few years about about Scorsese's Irishmen and it's length by saying they'd show a clip of it - but it's 88 minutes.

I think it just comes down to misogyny.

Barbie was the most successful movie of the year, not necessarily the best. I get that. Gerwig can flip off the Academy if she chooses. Over a billion $$ made, she's claimed her victory - and the right to make almost anything else she wants due to it. But that kind of success doesn't come without talent.

....to that point, the Academy knows pseudo talent when they see it: Bradley Cooper didn't get a director nomination for his shit-fest.

Run the World (Girls)

It's been said for generations that women are the fairer sex. Even the Oxford dictionary says: 'women viewed collectively'.

It's been bad enough that an old English university tells it like it is - even though it is just a false statement. They just define the terms, not create them.

Unfortunately, SCOTUS now gets to weigh in on this.

A private school is trying to require women to wear skirts. I get it's a forced dress code issue, but it goes to a different level.

O.M.F.G.

I get it's the South and they are a genteel folk, and well, fucking backwards.

There are four female Supreme Court justices, I'd like to think that even Amy Barrett would take offense to that...........but she'd probably take it as a compliment

It is truly shameful that people think about women this way in this day and age. But these are the same people who wonder what women were wearing when they are sexually assaulted, as surely they must have brought in on themselves.

Forget that the skirts in which the must wear to school sexualizes the women to the male population and enforces oh so many stereotypes. I suppose school administration doesn't think the women will notice, as they'll be in Home Ec class much of the time trying to learn how to keep a nice home for her husband.

The women at this school, or anywhere, don't deserve "gentle treatment" from their male classmates. They need to be treated with dignity and respect..........and to not attempt rape. They are not less than.

The school administration is. Perhaps SCOTUS too.......depending on how they vote.

Baby on Board

You know, the story has legs, but I'm all about the woman using the HOV lane in Texas, with just her and her baby bump.

Had she done it prior to the Roe v Wade reversal, and being from Texas, we all would have called her "Karen".  But her stance that in the post Row world, her fetus is a person and should be treated as such.

It's a fucking game changer, actually. Especially if many pregnant women take that strategy.  .....and even take it further.

Every pregnant person / couple should fuck with the IRS and start filing their unborn as dependents.

Every immigrant mother who is carrying cannot be deported, as it is a life and on U.S. soil, well.......you can't deport a U.S. citizen.......or citizen to be.

Flood the courts with these types of cases. Is the U.S. government really going to say, these are not children or lives because they're not yet expelled from a vaginal canal?  SCOTUS has said otherwise. Every state who has since passed a 'heart-beat' bill says otherwise.

I say flood these fuckers with chaos.

Also chaos?  Fuck with Brett Kavanaugh's dinner at Morton's.  And yeah, I"m ok with fucking with Morton's too.  Their bullshit about 'he has a right to eat without being disturbed'.    Fuck. You.   157 million women might disagree. Well, you know, 120, since you gotta figure 37 mill are dried up fucking twats who vote GOP, and yet refuse one welfare dime to any of those mothers (and were ok with separating them from their children).

SCOTUS already ruled that is ok to protest outside a physician's office or house who performs abortions. Again are you really going to have the government say it's illegal to do the same to a justice?

I mean.......except Congress already helped that along giving them protection when SCOTUS' widdle feweenings got hurt when the decision was leaked a few months back.

It seems that whole Goose / Gander things only applies when it doesn't affect them.

And since this SCOTUS is SO interested in the Second amendment, maybe they should look at the First too:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I believe they used that to allow people protest Planned Parenthood and its employees.  No?

I kid, of course. The Constitution is meaningless except for the Second amendment for any GOP'er. If they could, they'd wipe their ass with the rest of it. Metaphorically, they already have.

Listen, I'm not out-living the overturn of Roe v Wade, but I'm ok with fucking up city, state and federal government agencies until I take the big dirt nap.

I Am Woman

I'm not trying to see how many people can hate me with this post, but I'm not not trying to either.  And it's a little - or lottle - tongue in cheek.

....so it seems that women can do anything a man can - including gunning down an unarmed black man....in Minnesota.

Honestly, when I heard the news that a black man had been shot to death by the police, it never ever ever ever ever ever crossed my mind that it was a Charlie's Angels wanna be.  I was guilty of sexism on this count.

But really, why not a woman?  Hate. Fear. Racism.  If the BLOTUS years has taught us anything - and I'm not sure it has - it's that isms and phobias are not gender specific. It's almost like they instill these things in every police training program everywhere. But clearly the graduate level classes are held in Minnesota.

And of course a woman can shoot black men!!  You know, it was probably that time of the month with hormones running high. I think we can all be thankful she wasn't the president with the nuclear codes or access to 'the button'.

Still - gun vs taser.

Oh, those silly broads, they don't know the difference between a Phlillips head or a flat head screwdriver. They certainly can't be expected to remember a mild shocking device compared to a deadly bullet machine shooter thingy.

I suppose this is why they only get paid 73% of what male cops make.

That said, Kim Potter made great strides for female cops everywhere. She taught the entire Fraternal (sexist much, police guys?) Order of Police that women cops can do anything a man cop can do.

She's like the Elizabeth Cady Stanton of law enforcement........or something.  Yay Kim!?!

Killing Time

I'm not a woman (this is actually true!) and while theoretically could get someone pregnant, really can't get a woman knocked up, and I'm appalled by the new abortion bills in Georgia and my home state, Ohio (though you can start adding Alabama, Iowa, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Dakota and Texas to the lists).

While yes, social media is all over this - it's unclear if some of the below are even true.

The Georgia governor signed the bill, stating:  “to ensure that all Georgians have the opportunity to live, grow, learn and prosper in our great state.”.

OMFG.  I don't know it for sure, but he's probably against public funding, food stamps and sex education in schools.  ....and he means all white Georgians, btw.

If actually true, the bill goes into effect January 1, 2020........because...........the law can’t take effect until January because it categorizes fetuses as “minor dependents” under the Internal Revenue Code. I shit you not.  Does this mean child support from absentee fathers starts at 6 weeks old too?

One thing I haven't looked up - doctors who perform the abortions....what are their punishments?

Anyhoo.......some social media items from this all.

This is actually a possibility. A probability?  Most likely not, but.........it seems like this state would try to float this test balloon to see how it goes. They tried in 2015 without this law. Now they have the law.

March Into the Sun

Part of me feels like I missed a big opportunity not going to DC....or Chicago or Boston.

By all accounts, Cleveland had a decent turn out for the Women's March. Clearly not as big as those aforementioned cities. Even my sister-in-law went to the one in Charleston. And I had friends or family who attended in New York, San Jose, Columbus, Portland and Atlanta as well.

There were also a bunch to headed to DC for the main event. I mean, after all, it was deemed, the Women's March on Washington. The DC Metro reported that yesterday, there was 82,000 more riding their trains than on inauguration day.

Allegedly there were over a half-millions people at the DC march (some reports of 650k). So many so, that people didn't wait for the official route, as it moved to slow and took over other avenues and streets.

I certainly didn't see these crowd numbers along what few images I saw of the inaugural route. ....though Dump and his press secretary will tell you I'm lying misrepresenting.  Yeah.  And the Metro is fudging their numbers too ?

Our piddly-ass rally we went to last August.  Though to be fair - the one we went to might have had more port-a-potties.   ....and let's face it, the lack thereof is what would have kept me away from DC.

As it turns out, Becca and her youngest ducked out part way through the DC march. I get it. The crowd can be overwhelming.  ....and well.....Madonna.

Oh Madge. All for women's rights, she is. She's all against ageism and sexism. I mean, that's what she says is the problem against her. It's not. It's her shitty music. But somethings are easier to blame, I suppose.

I'm not sure how I feel about the turn-outs in other regards.

Had this event happened the last week of October, would the election have been different?  But on the other hand, did anyone believe - or want to - that Dump would be where he is now?  Is that the difference? No one thought this kind of turn-out for this kind of travesty was necessary?

My big beef is the aftermath. While I think the march was great and it mattered, but the question is: to whom else?

Do you think anyone residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is going "oh nooooooo.......the women don't like me?"

The problem is - he doesn't give a fuck.

Neither do the majority who reside at the other end of the Mall.  (and no, not the clerks at Things Remembered.)

Well, Dump does - in a way. It's a twisted irony with him. If he didn't care what people thought, he wouldn't tweet or speak at press events about it so much. Yet when it comes to actual action - he doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself. His supporters just don't see that yet.

The march is good for organization and a call to action, but for change in Planned Parenthood, ACA, Equal Pay or Education (just cross gun control off any list with this administration now), you're dreaming.

This fuck is going to be a long hard one. And with no lube. And it's gonna last four years.

....that said, I'm sorry I didn't go to the march. I'm not sure I could have handled being in DC with the administration - and lack of pooperies - but I'm sure I could have survived for a good cause.....and with a pack of Depends.

Strip

Spencer Tunick is coming back to Cleveburgh.

Every news outlet is making it a big thing - when it really kind of is not.

Tunick is doing another nude installation here, this time during the GOP convention. I suppose it is supposed to be some kind of statement.

I suppose it could be some kind of statement, if he wasn't shooting near the end of the convention timeframe and if he wasn't doing it on private property with no viewing from the public's eye.

You see - if you're not familiar with Tunick's work, he usually does mass nude photos: Paris, Buffalo, New York, Cleveland, etc - and usually with thousands of participants.

Cleveland, back in 2004, set a record number of participants (2,754), including myself.

Last time, it was all walks of life - or at least gender. This time it's just girls. Real ones, apparently.

Last time, it was open call. You showed up, signed the release, dropped your drawers and you were in the pic. This time, the women have to submit a picture to Tunick and it will be limited to 100 women - allegedly of all shapes and sizes.

Now, I totally get the idea of {and I'm making assumptions on Tunick's vision} naked women and the GOP pretty much saying what they can and cannot do with those bodies.  Of course the irony is not lost on me that Tunick, a man, is picking women and, yes, at least for the installation, telling them what to do with their bodies.

It's doubtful he sees that irony.

Now if the artist wanted to make a statement, then thousands of women on the streets of Cleveland during the height of the convention makes sense. I totally get that with security, crowds and such that he would never ever ever get a permit to do his thing.

I think Tunick does some nice work and I don't doubt the images he takes will be nice, but I'm not making the GOP angle of it to be anything more than self-promotion and PR.

And for the record, of all the images taken back in 2004, this is the "official" shot.

The title image was all guys. Oh, most of them were uncomfortable about being with just guys. Too bad. And oy, was that grass cold! A lot worse than the cement in the official image.

(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman

We have a houseguest this weekend. Well, more than one. But I'm speaking here of one in particular.

And if this doesn't sum up how the weekend will go, I'm not sure what will.

Having four sisters, I know all about the salty and sweet, boozy and napkin-y attributes that make up this time of the month. You just have to know how to off-set the loony times.

The David Letterman Film Festival entry, PMS, said, "alcohol helps takes the edge off". I know it does for somethings, but I cannot truly confirm or deny the PMS attribute. Ladies, any thoughts on this?

But to start off our weekend, which kind of began Thursday, we went out to the Grotto, where I am still the number one customer. It was a nice time with some wine and beer and food, of course.

It's a bummer I have to work today, but two of the gang can have fun while I toil away and then others will join later in the day.
