I know, right??? Me. (that's to/for Morty!)
I haven't bought a Cowboy Junkies album in forever, but I like that in almost 40 years, they're still releasing decent music on the regular.
They have a new disk coming out, and I've heard the first one song from it - here - "What I Lost".
Admittedly, I'm not sure it starts out all that great, but I stuck with it. And I'm glad I did. It shifts a bit at the 0:47 mark and right after the one minute mark.
Margo Timmins vocals are strong, always have been. The band incorporates fiddle / violin into some of the crescendo moments. It has some Leonard Cohen-esque moments. Maybe it's a Canadian thing.
The song seems to deal with dementia or Alzheimer's, so, you know.........weird, but not uncharted, song material. Cowboy Junkies do a really nice job on a song where radio has no place for the band - and that's a shame. Hopefully it will get played in their native Canada.
