My Music Monday

It is the end of the numbers theme. It's Erik's turn next month at what types of songs to select.  Good luck to him.

I'm going with "Number One Camera" from Nina Gordon. No, she doesn't have a website.

You might know her as a member of the band Veruca Salt. Yes, they do have a website.

Yes, they took the name from the Charlie & the Chocolate Factory character. And yes, apparently they've gotten back together and it seems no one really noticed.

I suppose Gordon has only put out two solo disks in 18 years. Three if you count the one she recorded and didn't release. I think Veruca Salt only has four disk - including the newer one I didn't know they even released.

Prolific she is not. Nor is she bad. Even her sub-par album Bleeding Heart Graffiti had some salvageable songs. Her debut solo disk, Tonight and the Rest of My Life was much much stronger. I is also where today's song comes from.

For anyone who is a fan of the Lion in Winter (one of the greatest movies out there), Gordon steals / paraphrases a line from there with "I could peel you like a pear and g-d would call it 'justice'".  That amused me the first time I heard it.

Maybe you'll like the song. Perhaps not.  It's less than 3 minutes of your time.
