Disco Apocalypse

Here we are beginning again.  Or ending, if the Mayans are correct.

But if they are correct, we have 355-358 days left. Yes, they predict December 21-24 till it all ends.

Of course, if they are correct and no one believes them, that means we have to sit through the entire fricking 2012 election cycle for no good reason.  We will see the dismantling of separation of church and state.  We will see the tear down of the judicial system.  We will see the "empire" of the United States go further into its crumble.   ...and then we'll be dead.

Oh, and we'll also have to do out holiday shopping  on the off-chance we still have to exchange gifts.

But back to the politics. I saw David Gergen speak a few years ago - and he orated on the collapse of America in terms of not just a super-power, but any power.  He discussed the financial collapse and not where we'd be at a place like the G8 or G20 summits, but if we'd be at the table at all.  Gergen discussed how all dynasties crumble.  ...and not just because they got a replacement Fallon, who now speaks with a British accent.

But with the likes of the GOP "front runners" you can see the road down which we are headed. I only see the divide getting greater with 2016, assuming the GOP loses the 2012 race.

Either way if we keep heading down this path, personally, I'm routing that the Mayans are correct.

From north of the border... with our new majority conservative government, I think we are a less appealing option than we used to be.... aaargh!

Despite his flaws, Obama still looks like best option. And the upside of the GOP cast of losers is that he stands a good chance to get back in.

I dont think the Mayans had the date right... unless Santorum or Gingrich become Prez. Cuz that would count.

Maybe it's supposed to just signal the fall of Western Civilization. I mean, with all the bank crises and the rioting, maybe it's just signaling the end of "civilization."

In that case, at least we can rebuild. Although, now I guess Mad Max was right. And I look horrible in chains and leather....

The silly old Mayans also believed the world sprang out of nothing in 3114 BC - in August. So if they can't get that right, I suspect we will see yet another Boxing Day this year.
