Ok, I have my player thingy all fixed. Well, to a degree. They wiped out every song I had uploaded that I posted to my blog, so all those previous links are broken. I'll go back and fix........eventually.
So many other things to do and fret about.
Let's go folk-ish today. Faux Folk. Faux French Folk.
"Est-ce Que Tu" by Dusty Trails is the tune of the day.
The "group" are two women, former members of other bands - the Breeders and Luscious Jackson. I think they only had one record, possibly two. They were ripe for Lilith Fair timing. They didn't make a dime. ...and they're not French.
Their self-title debut disk was ok, but it was more for the estrogen crowd, if you axe me. Indigo Girls Lite. But that's not to say they are not talented and have a place, but they had an expiration date for me. I can only listen to 3-4 songs on the disk anymore.
But one of them is "Est-ce Que Tu". The vocals are even airier than some of their other stuff, but at least with this song, I like it. It's simple, or at least it starts that way, but then it keeps layering as they go along, and that works to its advantage.
You can at least sample it here. I mean, where are you going to hear a song that came out 12 years ago from a band you've never heard of (well, except Jon)?

Yeah, After 50 seconds I would rather have my balls waxed than listen to another faux harmonious second.
It's like Enya, but without the overlaid tracks...
Sail away, sail away.
