Guilty

I believe I'm obligated to write about Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen.

Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.

Seriously - eight for each.

....and Paul - may I call you 'Paul'?  - those 10 that were a mistrial?  Yeah - those can be retried.  Oh - and you still have another court date next month for additional charges.

...and Mikey - may I call you 'Mikey'? - I actually have a grain of respect for you. A. As in singular.  I get you skirted the line by saying 'a candidate' - when we know you didn't mean Jeb!.  (why yes, there is an exclamation point there.) .  But at least you put it out there.

I have to believe there is a legal tactic in not naming names at this point, but way to take it like a man....finally.   Oh and by-the-by?  You will be taking it like a man for the next 3 1/2 to 5 years.  Well, correction:  you'll probably be taking it like a woman.

You can consult Stormy on this matter - as a quick Gooooooogle search has the videos in which she takes it up the butt.  I mean - get your $130,000 worth, ya know?

Maybe it's my internal glee, but it's doubtful that Cohen is getting a BLOTUS pardon. I'm less sure of Manafort.

I chuckles at the news - not fake as much as just out and out speculation.  They talk about these being the main part of the Mueller investigation when in fact they have no fucking idea. Mueller hasn't really tipped his hand in the slightest.

I get it is only Wednesday, but it might be the best news of the week.

Truth No. 2

Ok, I'll be the first to admit - that is one fucked up, disturbing image - even if fake.  Semi-fake.

But Rudy Guliani is one fucked up, disturbing man.

A lot has been said about this last weekend's Meet the Press moment where Rude claims 'truth isn't truth'.

Of course it was an idiotic comment, but even I have to say, the media took it a little out of context. Still, he is a dork for mentioning trapped into perjury, implying that he either has to contradict a previous lie, or lie about a previous truth.

This is one of many many many stupid and inane things the thrice divorced ex-mayor has said since becoming BLTOUS' personal attorney.  (and yes, I felt the need to throw in that he's multiple time married scum-bag.....though the 'scum-bag' part was implied.)

To me, at least, this is all becoming increasingly clear:  you have a semi-unhinged babbling lawyer representing the man holding the highest office in the country - and a position in which he has most likely done some horribly illegal things.

What better way for an appeal your 100% guaranteed conviction than to say you've been represented by someone incompetent?

At one point, I figured BLOTUS wanted a some semi-name counsel. Now, it's just a certainty that he is playing Rudy and using him like he does every other single person he comes across (and no - there was no pun or double entendre there).

Normally, I wouldn't say 'good for you' to BLOTUS, but Guliani is as 2nd creepy as they come. BLOTUS is still #1 in that area.

My Music Monday

The last / newest Depeche Mode release was ok, but it wasn't going to go down in history as a milestone album.

There are a handful of really good songs on here - including today's selection, "Poison Heart" - and a handful of forgettable tunes too.

"Poison Heart" is one of the few DM songs not written by Martin Gore.  Lead singer David Gahan co-wrote it.  Maybe I like it as it is slightly different than something Gore would have tackled.

Impossible

I'm going on record:  watching a facial haired Henry Cavill was the single best thing about Mission: Impossible XVII - Fallout.

Women and gay men swooned, straight men are uncomfortably sexually confused. .....and rightfully so.

Also on record: I've never seen a full Mission: Impossible movie, and never seen any of those parts at a theater. And I think they really call the series Mission: Very Very Very Probable. Our friends David & James asked us to go. David, the former head of the Cleveland International Film Festival, always trips me up with this kind of request, though his husband loves the big box office popcorn fare.  Oddly, this movie has a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Ms. Cruise, beginning to look every day her 56 years (even with professional make-up), runs, chases, rides, runs, flies, punches, runs, jumps, drives, kicks, slaps, runs, and acts like he likes woman.  He's an acting revelation.

I kind of take it back on the Cavill pronouncement. The lady who played Princess Margaret in the Crown is probably the best thing about the movie, but Henry is right up there - though he's not going to win any acting awards that are not Nickelodeon or MTV related.

Mission's plot is fair at best. Let's face it, these movies are all about the chases through narrow European streets.  It Bourne - but with more gay.

The unfortunate thing about these big box office movies is there isn't an iota of reality, or worse, originality.

That moment early on, when they had "two minutes umtil depressurization" and had to get into the suits that helped with that.  Forget the 45 second conversation about said suit (tick tick tick), but when you saw said suit, you'd know it would be like take 25 minutes to put it on.

Still the helicopter chase - oh yes, you read that correctly - literally and figuratively had me throwing my hands in the air in disbelief at the absurdity of the entire thing.  710 laughed at me, but I was laughing at David poised on the edge of his seat as he laughed at the screen the entire time.

I get why audiences like the adrenaline of such movies, but they are so formulatic, like when the needed device - whatever it may be - just out or reach and (not or) right on the edge of a cliff.  Although, it is nice to know with their multi-millions dollars worth of gadgets, their they too are as reliable as getting my XM radio to work if I go under a 20 foot wide bridge.  And there is a bathroom fight (see above) whose craftsmanship is spotty at best. Plaster, marble and metal are like onion skin paper to these dudes.

I suppose my biggest problem with this movie in particular is the 'ghost' aspect. Whomever is in the intelligence / spy group are described as 'ghosts', but folks with whom they are somewhat kind of associated can not only track them, and easily, but are often there waiting for them.

Oh, and they still use the small reel-to-reel tape thing to convey the job, because it's 1966.

M:I wasn't one of those movies we could dissect over dinner afterwards, as much as it was to laugh about it.

...and technically I'm done with out movie goal.  I can now rest on my laurels until 2019, but I won't.  More to see.

Snapshot

You know, if I had to use film and develop these pics, I could never ever ever afford to do this.

Food for thought.

I'm assuming he's just blowing raspberries at me.  Story of my life.

If he gets to bed first - he always takes my side.

Honestly, I'm to sure he cares Sophie is there.  I'm not even sure he knows she's there.
The poor girl gets whapped by his tail daily.

Well visit at the Vets, but why not check stuff out - especially the cat books.

He chased her and she came right back at him.  Good Sophie.

710's even better birthday portrait of Shep.

Parade

I love how the American Legion is balking at the price for a fucking military parade for BLOTUS (which looks like might be postponed - but honestly, how did it get this far?).

The price is the factor. Not the fact that no only did BLOTUS not serve - because let's face it, we are kind of getting to the point where a president wouldn't have been in the service - but he actively avoided it with the possible lamest freebie ever.

You know, he could have just told them he was gay.

The price for said parade increased from $12 million to $92 MILLION.   Dollars. Real ones. The same kind of currency you had to pay to attend BLOTUS University. ....and for an outcome that is just as meaningful.

If I ever ever ever ever hear a republicunt tout anything with the words, 'fiscal conservative', I will literally spit in their face.  .....and I'm not talking saliva, I'm talking the bringing up of the off-coloured phlegm and putting a nice big hawker right on their puss.

Honestly, I do not get the DoD's ok with this. Are they that afraid of this man?  And yes, what could $12 or 92 MILLION (I cannot stress the denomination enough here!) do for the current troops, let alone the veterans.........or homeless, or Flint, or Puerto Rico, or the farmers, or............shall I go on?

I know if must take a certain kind of ego for a man (or woman) who wants to be president, but honestly, this totally takes the cake.

Birthday

Today is Shep's 3rd birthday.  I'd say we'd celebrate today, but we celebrate every day.  He lives a pretty charmed life, If I say so myself.              .....and I do.

710 took this amazing pic of him this last Sunday while I was out and texted it to me.  He didn't even use Portrait mode.

....and yes, Shep is wet, having just come from the brook.

So happy birthday to my little man!

At Least That's What You Said

Oh for fucks sake people - it's not a matter of 'if' or even 'how often' BLOTUS "might" have said the n-word.

I believe the question on the table is: 'does it matter'?

The short answer is ,"no".

The longer answer is, "no"

Those who voted for him already feel free to be as racist as they want, knowing that BLOTUS is too - and now have zero hesitation about saying 'the word'. .....and meaning it.

I mean, you have seen all the videos of black folks filming white folks being white, right? Super white....and scared.

And folks who didn't vote or support BLOTUS, well, would this make them support him less?

See? This changes nothing.   Nor does the 'dog' comment.

Omarosa is a petty, disgusting, vile, deceitful, reality "star" who has nothing behind her in the way of credentials or substance. But she might be the only one to help take down a petty, disgusting, vile, deceitful, reality "star" who has nothing behind him in the say of credentials or substance.

I do love all their previous denials that the White House gave regarding things potentially said, and now it's a lawsuit about violating a non-disclosure agreement. While not a legal victory for Omarosa, it's hard to believe there are not things on tape this White House can't afford to become public.

Let's hope it's BLOTUS telling others how stupid his voting public is, though those folks are probably too stupid to grasp that, even if said to their face.

A boy can dream.

Ad of the Month

I really don't know why I like it, but it makes me smile.

Back in the day, when I drank soda my choice of drink was Dr. Pepper.  Before that Coke.  But that was a decade ago.

Still, I found Dr. Pepper's new potential ad to be pseudo-clever.

I say "potential" as it hasn't actually run anywhere, and may not. It's a test.

I'd say the ad could have been better executed, I don't know that to be true. I suppose the 'vers' is everything in between.

Still, I'm all for targeted marketing.  Gays buy soda too..............I hear.

12 of 12

So I'm doing my 101st 12 of 12.

Normally it is 12 pictures taken on the 12th of the month. Since I only post once per day, you get my images the following day. All pictures taken with my iPhone. Click images to enlarge, if you choose.

Created by Chad Darnell and picked up from, what I can tell, any number of random bloggers who then link back to him and vice versa. Chad is no longer doing this, nor is successor coordinating the linking of other 12 of 12'ers anymore. Now it's just Erik and myself - that I know of.....as it's the only blog post he's still doing......for now.

I still continue to do this, because of all my consistent post topics, I actually like this one the most.

01:24.   There used to be a time where 1:24 a.m. would be the middle of my drinking night. I was way in bed before this, just a wake-up.  I've had a bad week of sleeping.  1:24 a.m. was only my first time awake.

06:57.   I got to sleep in. See?  It's already light out!

08:24.   Second Breakfast.

I picked up treats after Shep's wellness vet's visit the day before. Daylight Doughnuts has a creative selection - but I ate those on Saturday.

09:30.  Showering. Shaving........the head.  Just the head (that's what she said!)

10:05.  Driving to my mother's house.

11:15.  Touring an Assisted / Independent Living Facility with my mother.

12:40.  Having lunch with my mother.

My sister and brother-in-law joined as well.  Food was meh, at best.

13:10.  Target run.

Do you know it's almost impossible to find dress shoe laces? None at Target, Walmart or DSW.
WTF?  And people wonder why Amazon is winning.

13:50.  Gassing up.

After getting home, I was given this errand.  Bother.

18:17.   Bark!  Who goes there?

Shep responding to a dog in down the street.

19:00.  Prepping for dinner.

21:11. Oh Paul Hollywood!!!

 the Great British Baking Show
psssst.  Don't tell me who wins. We are behind. This is dvr'd.

Space Oddity

Can we start off with - 2020 is like 16 months away. 28 months if you launch Space Force....or whatever the fuck you do with it at the end of 2020.

The government doesn't do anything that quickly.

For fuck sake, they're currently talking about a government shutdown over budget shit, but this we have $$$$ for?

Gimme a break.

Back in 2004, Shrub said we were going to back to the moon. 14 years later, I'm still waitin' for that to happen.

In 2015, pre-BLOTUS (nahhh....he was still the biggest liar of the U.S. back then) said we'd be building a wall (payment pending), and I am still waitin' for that to happen.

Like the Emperor before him, Michelle Pence believes space belongs, or should belong, to a single entity. I think we know how that all turned out for Palpatine.

Of course, none of this is truly going to happen.  It's all distraction. From what exactly, I'm never sure.  Mueller is probably the main selection. But we still have the budget, education, anilingus with Putin....well, ON Putin.  You know Valddy didn't go cave diving, tongue first.  At least not on BLOTUS.

As for the cost of Space Farce (not a typo), I'm glad the GOP are such fiscal conservatives {snark}, as the closest cost estimate is "billions".   I'm not quite sure, nor is anyone else, if that is one billion, or one dollar short of a trillion.  It's kind of a wide margin.

Here's hoping by 2020, we know these folks won't be here anymore.

oh yeah - VOTE!

Choice?

You know - there are sometimes even friends annoy me.  No........it's true.  (Not you, Morty!)

The statement they posted on FB is just so.........wrong.

I get the poster is a democrat.  I get it he has a problem with people voting for someone else, but I've said it here before, how I choose to vote is none of your business. And vice versa. I don't have to be happy about it for sure (nor does he) but.......really?

Get off the people who vote 3rd party.

What he's saying is:  vote for the least objectionable party.

I mean, isn't that the gist? Naturally there is a flaw to that theory:  which candidate is last objectionable, and to whom?  He's assuming everyone is like-minded. They aren't.

And for the 42,984 times - the folks who voted 3rd part in 2016 got to exercise their right to vote and it didn't stop BLOTUS from winning, but it didn't cause him to win.   Clinton got more votes and still lost.

Still, the idea that voting for the guy you hate least is just a horrible solution. I have no qualms about voting for Bernie in the primary. The democrats shut him out and down. They are as much to blame about pushing the only two party system as the GOP.   They're tactics are shitty and ineffective.

In a later post, the same person goes on to disparage anyone who is pro-Bernie, saying he's too old and feeble to be president and that Bernie and his supporters should just go away.

The irony is:  these folks are the same ones who truly agree with the idea of his plans for healthcare, education, economics.  When it comes down to it, they just don't like him.

But the idea of cultivating a third party where there needs to be a congressional bloc before you would ever consider running a presidential candidate.  That just smacks of the same shit we get from the current two parties.

These folks claim to want change, but in very narrow and specific terms.

It all sounds like belly-aching over something that happened almost two years ago.  Move on. Be the change, but stop bitching about it.

This Song Has No Title

It's been one of dem days.

The sleep didn't come the night before, and the subsequent workday was 12 hours long and I don't feel I got much done and I am just way behind. I think I have another week of this hectic pace. Right now, I"m just trying to make it to the end of the week.

Because of it all - I have no meaningful post today.  I haven't looked at even a news blurb to see if we are closer to annihilation or Jr is closer to getting his pre-indictment pardon.

You know I'd love to pick up a paper to hear he was gang-raped in prison.

It's really the little things in life, isn't it?

Make America Great Again

I'll bet $18,000.000.000.000 that these two d-bags used to tell "hippies" protesting (fill in any) war, "America, love it or leave it".

I will also bet $18,000,000,000,001 they don't see the irony in something like that.

Normally, I might say, "this is where we are in this fucked up life", and were might have been there, but now it's a week later, so I'm sure we've gone to an even lower level.

To really piss them off, people should start insinuating the are a "couple".  Life partners. Longtime Companions. Homos. Butt pirates. ...and the one that would really steam them: "Faggots".

The joke they truly don't get?  We are 2.7 steps away from BEING Russia. So their wish is BLOTUS' command....or commandant комендант.

I'd love to see what job them mexi-cans have taken from their fat-fingered hands. Probably none, as it looks they aren't talented enough to pick lettuce for 12 hours a day, and couldn't clean a bathroom to even Taco Bell's standards if their lives depended on it.

So yes, Bruce & Bruce (well, I'm assuming....but when you say their names do it mockingly with some extra esses and a limp wrist), please, go to the motherland and get your monthly bread rations and live out your days sucking Putin's dick.   ......though he'll imprison you for it after he cums.  Just an FYI.

Soul Survivor

Yesterday was a weird day.

My 100 year old uncle Clete - the one we had a celebration for almost two months ago - had his funeral yesterday.

Well, he didn't have it. I mean, he was there and all, but hardly hosting the event.

How great is it that he lived to be 100?  How great that he has great-grandkids ranging in ages from 8 months old to some that are through college?

So while sad, it wasn't a huge surprise. I mean - he was 100.

Of course I felt bad for his three remaining kids and his wife of 77 (!!!!) years.

Who I really felt bad for was my mother. She's been around for 90 of those 100 years.  Well, 89.6. And she lost her other brother, Tom,  last Thanksgiving at 97.

That leaves her the last of her family - us kids not included.

When you're 90, how does that not weigh on you?

My mother seemed fine with the death last week and even on the ride to the funeral. But when she got there, she kind of fell apart, but only for a part.. And Marge, her sister-in-law, whom she's known for 78 years, reach out to her and held her arm for the entire service.

She was teary during the service and quiet during the lunch afterwards, though most of my cousins and second cousins all made their way over to see her, which was nice, as she's not ambulatory enough to make the rounds.

I think it's the next few days or weeks that will be toughest for her. Clete and Tom pretty much raised her. All had kind words for their mother, but if those stories were true, she was a horrible mother.

Those boys couldn't go to a movie - or anywhere - without taking my mother. She was a toddler.  Or the time she was in her pram - and they had pram and baby in a boat on the Detroit River...........in winter!  The three of them made it sound fun and funny, but if you really think about it - and I've said it to all three - had it been today, Children's Services would have taken all three away from their mom.

I did get to see my three cousins and 13 of my 18 second cousins (who are way closer to my age). I even spoke to 12 of those 13.

A few days before I was having email and texts with some of them while simultaneously having a group texting session with the cousins on my father's side of the family.  Nothing like that has ever happened, nor do I expect to again.

Now it is up to me to help my mother into another transition of her life. I'd say I don't know what that might bring, but I think that would be a lie.  I have a pretty good idea.

My Music Monday

Just a random song from my music collection, but it's a good one. When the Kinks were good, they were great.  They were innovative and one of the first groups do to a concept album.

I could take or leave "Lola", though let's face it, a song back in 1971 talking about a dude dressed as a girl, as sung by the guy dating the "lady".

Bruce Jenner took the song to heart.

While I love a lot of their music but have a special place for today's selection, "Till the End of the Day".  It's right near the beginning of their career, but I dig the tune.

Baking

It was movie / date night last evening.  Shep did not approved.

There is a shortage of good films out there, though somehow the church of Scientology got the folks at Rotten Tomatoes to give the new Mission: Impossible (and it seems it is always 'possible, btw) a 97%.

We upped it by 3% to see the 100% rated the Cakemaker.

We saw the review during our last movie, along with a few others we would like to see. The problem - even in the art movie world - is that a film in German, Hebrew and English don't tend to stick around more than a week.........if they are shown at all.

It's not a spoiler to tell you the premise:  a German baker falls in love with a married Israeli guy who travels monthly to Berlin.  After the Israeli guy dies in an accident, the German dude travels to Jerusalem and ingrains himself in the widow's life.

Facebook would say: It's complicated.

Thomas, the German guy, is the movie's center, the only one with feet in both worlds.  While the widow mourns her husband, you don't get to see Thomas do the same.

I found it a unique story of love on multiple levels. I thought the filmmaker flowed flawlessly between the three languages, though you have to be good with sub-titles.

I was amused at the audience make-up. Save 3-5 folks, everyone there was Jewish. Cleveland has a thriving Jewish population, but no real movies in Hebrew, which is what we assumed got them in the door - not the gay stuff. For a little promoted movie, the place was full, which was nice to see.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Cakemaker and would recommend it if you all have the opportunity to see it.

Shopping with Barack

Oh how I love this man.

Remember when we thought 41 an out of touch fucktard for not knowing how much a gallon of milk cost?

Or that his running mate / VP didn't know how to spell 'potato' or even that Murphy Brown wasn't a real person?

It is a surprise to no one - at least with 1/16th of a brain - that BLOTUS could out-stupid both of them. He already didn't now that Frederick Douglass was dead.

And just yesterday, BLOTUS endorsed Ohio rep Steve Stivers in a special election  -  one in which Stivers isn't even running.  So..........there's that.

Of course, his biggest gaffe is the being thinking (no, that can't be the right the right word) that people get id'd buying groceries.

As if he'd ever walk into D'Agastinos to pick up some brillo pads, scallions and pork butt. If one would actually card him, it would be to check his weight, right?

Mind you, his MAGA supporters, still waiting for those plush job the mexicans stole from them - are actually probably having to show a form of ID while they use their WIC cards and food stamps.

Oh irony, you never let me down!

I will hand it to Obama. He has remained fairly silent on the current administration's actions fuck-ups. I get that his commenting on stuff is a lose-lose scenario, but I love he couldn't help himself with that one tweet.  I mean, sure it's one of his interns or something, but still............

Losing My Religion

Granny Clampett is at it again.

A Religious Liberty Task Force?

First off - why?  In what world does the Dept of Justice need that for?  Yes, the question is rhetorical.

Said 'task force' will "enforce a 2017 DOJ memo ordering federal agencies to take the broadest possible interpretation of “religious liberty” when enforcing federal laws."

Jeff Sessions characterized the task force as a necessary step in facing down the prevailing forces of secularism. “A dangerous movement, undetected by many, is now challenging and eroding our great tradition of religious freedom which must be confronted and defeated, ” says she.

During the announcement of this Sessions specifically mentioned support of bakers refusing service to homos. Good thing that justice is blind, eh?

So, as far as I can tell, we are talking - surprise surprise - conservative christian task force.  I have heard zero mention of Jews, Black christians, Hindus, Muslims or Jedis.

You can dress it up any way you'd like Granny, but we are two steps away from the new Inquisition.

Get Off of My Cloud

Vacation is over and it was a hard-landing back at work.

200+ emails on Monday.  Not the catch-up emails from the other days. Just Monday.  I left my desk to pee and grab fud.

But enough about that.

Vacation was great. Once I totally unplugged, it was grand.

The house we rented - right at the shore - was great. Beautifully done and nice details, but very comfortable.

We had a lower porch and one off the master bedroom. Both, it turns out, were good for sitting and drinking wine, though we preferred the upper one better.

It also turns out, I could just stare at the surf and horizon all day long. Hour by hour, the sea changes. Relaxation ensues and a zen-like presence takes over.

There were many discussions on what retirement might look like, even though we are a few years off. DC has always been high on the list, but we are thinking the shore might be the way. It would be a lot easier had I won that $533MM lotto. Alas, I did not.

It rained every day. Almost always at night. Almost always extremely strong storms. Lots of lightening, high winds and voluminous thunder. Day one, the lightening woke me up though my closed eyes, but it was the swaying of the house, ever so slightly that left me awake.  710 slept through the entire thing.

Days almost always cleared up, with sun and clouds. Lots of clouds. My entire photo-taking of vacation is cloud-based. On purpose. My InstaGram is mainly cloud work too.  It's a thing, it seems. With me, anyways.

There were rip currents daily. Red flags the entire time warning folks not to go in the water. We swam every single day, albeit in front of a lifeguard, in case I succumbed to the call of the siren.  One day there were 13 rescues and one drowning, and an additional drowning earlier in the week. We played it safe.

But walking was the thing. On the beach, up to 10 miles daily. My feet are still sore, but I couldn't change it for a thing.

We had gotten my sister-in-law down to stay with us for a few days. Apparently she is still raving about being at the beach the first time in over a decade. We wanted her to stay longer, but she could not.

Food was unremarkable. Some just 'ok' dinners. All other meals we at the house, which was great and convenient. And best yet, I think the tv went on three brief times.

While work has been harsh these last two days, oddly, the glow of vacation has not worn off. I'm actually basking in the possibilities of retirement.
