Honestly, I'm not sure anyone knows what will hold a person's interest let alone take off and take the internet by the shorthairs.
This week, it seems it is Jimothy* - the wild raccoon from the Pacific Northwest who seemingly has a spinal deformity.
Animals get rejected so easily by mothers for any host of reasons. That Jimothy was not - and actually nurtured by his mother - is kind of exemplary.
It's made him an internet darling.
710 sent me a story about Jimothy and now my feed is heavily peppered by stories, drawings, music, clothing lines, baked goods (seriously) and whatnot. .......about a raccoon.
The only problem is not one dime goes to Jimothy.
Once again, Americans are making bank off the backs of others with no trickle down. I'm kind of surprised there isn't a gofundme to operate on Jimothy to make him "normal".
But you know - it beats reading about you know who.
Be careful Jimothy. The internet loves to tear down what it builds up.
*I had no song with the word "Jimothy" - though there are songs, by name, about him on iTunes. Seriously. Americana, Rap, Irish jigs, hard rock and hardcore punk.

Shame nobody is helping the deformed raccoon, but helping themselves, typical these days
