Don't Ask Me to Choose

I can't say I'm proud of this, but yesterday was the first time in my adult life that I did not vote.

Granted, it was only a primary, though I'm sure there were some real issues on the ballot as well, but none of them were enough to engage me to go stand and vote. I missed the deadline for an absentee ballot, and had I not fucked that up, I probably would have taken the time to cast my choices. But I didn't - and I didn't.

....and I wasn't about to stand in line to vote for a guy who was like 15 points ahead in the race for the Senate general election.

I think that is only part of the reason I didn't bother going to the polls. For the first time since being allowed to vote, I feel pretty disenfranchised with all parties. Right now, the Dems are no better than the GOP - and they're weak.

In the last few weeks, I've unsubscribed to every political list I was on, most of them asking why - and I told them in no uncertain terms.

Do I think that will change how they do "business"? No. But it might change how I do it - or don't, as the case may be.

The only reason I voted was to NOT vote for the incumbent Democrat for my Congressional District who has turned out to be a secret Republican..since that's how he votes. He still got a spot in November but at least I can say "I didn't vote for him."
