There are a number of songs that are covers, that you didn't know were covers. Or maybe you did know. Then said cover becomes better known - or only known - than the original. And THEN another band does a cover of the popular version.
You can see why I'm going to fail here, right? And there are five Monday's this month.
I don't know from Men of North Country (MONC) but they have recorded Kirsty MacColl's "They Don't Know", which was made popular by Tracey Ullman.
But MONC pay tribute to the writer and original artist - who died almost 21 years ago (!). When this was released last December, it coincided with the 20th anniversary of her death.
They don't go too far out of bounds with the music, but the video playing behind the video is of MacColl herself. It's a nice touch.
