My Music Monday

Erik's theme for our music posts for the month is 'automobiles'.

It is general enough to be about cars or driving.....or specific enough to be about certain types of cars or could be interpreted references (i.e. "Mustang Sally" ?).

I figured I could easily eke out five - as I have five Mondays in May.  So be it.

I'm going with 'cars' today. "No Cars Go" by Arcade Fire from their album the Neon Bible.

I could have just put an audio version up, as there is no official video. I could have put up a fan video of the disc recording. In theory one would say either of those options would be a clearer version than a live track.

Yet I picked a live version.

The beauty of Arcade Fire is that they sound pretty fucking good live. And oddly their sound is fuller - partially due to the fact that their live band is double in size than what they use in the studio.

Still the addition of two violinists and other members (sometimes they provide woodwinds and brass too), don't detract from the sound. They fill in nicely. And how often, outside of Cajun music do you see anyone using an accordion (and sometimes a hurdy gurdy)?

What I've like about Arcade Fire is that live aspect. Everyone participates - and almost everyone is a multi-instrumentalist. So often, a band is really just background for the lead singer. This is far less the case here. Save the drummer (at least here), everyone plays, everyone sings.
