My Music Monday

I can't say I'm much of a Smashing Pumpkins fan.

I suppose by 'much of', you could say "at al".  Personally, I think Billy Corgan is semi-talented blowhard who collaborated on a few good songs, but other than that his music falls into oblivion.

That he fired all his band - the one who appeared on albums that actually sold any volume - but kept the one guy who OD'd and nearly ruined the band seemed beyond me.

Corgan hitched his wagon to losers like Courtney Love and his alleged talents did nothing for them. Go figure.

That said, I have one (!!) song of the Pumpkins in my iTunes liberry of 13,000+ songs: "Bullet with Butterfly Wings".   ...and even that was downloaded in 1998 from the first version of Napster. Yup, I didn't pay a cent for it, which make the song that much better.

Still, for all my questions about Corgan's talent - and let's face it, he was the songwriter/singer/producer of the music - the song still resides on my playlist.

Out of seven albums, he came up with one good song.

(as always - it should play on the embedded player, but with YouTube and all their legal shit with the record companies, who knows. If it doesn't play - you can always go here.)

I like 1979, and that's about it. I liked it so much that I bought the CD-single hoping for cool remixes, but was very disappointed. The video was cool, tho.

I was more partial to "Tonight, Tonight" from this album than I was to "Bullet with Butterfly Wings".

I think the last song of theirs I consciously remember liking was "Disarm".

But after a while, Billy just starts sounding like a Howler monkey.

My sister was a fan of Smashing Pumpkins, so since I idolized her, so was I. Today was a pretty good song, and I really liked Tonight, Tonight. Ava Adore wasn't too bad either.

Personally, his personal stances worry me more, http://www.queerty.com/smashing-pumpkins-billy-corgan-calls-transwoman-a-heshe-and-an-ugly-pig-20110901/
