My Music Monday

I'm no fan of Ambrosia. Even for me, they were a little too lightweight in terms of music.  "the Biggest Part of Me?  "You're the Only Woman?"  "How Much I Feel?"

Granted, those probably made the band some dough, but they made me nap.

I don't know who those are making bling for now, because a quick look at wikipeida will tell me there hasn't been an original member in the band since the early '80s.  Even Bruce Hornsby did a year in the band and even he now resides in the 'where are they now' file.

Yet on their last album (1982), I did hear a song of theirs, "How Can You Love Me", that made me think twice about the band.

It's not a groundbreaking song. It doesn't defy their light rock status, but it did show they had potential to do other things. Actually, maybe they always did and it just never hit the radio.  I never purchased an album, so maybe they had other attributes all along.

I know it's supposed to be about the music, not the video. The video is mundane, but it was 1982 for an MOR band. No one was spending big bucks on innovation. But. the. band.

The lead singer is decent enough looking, but omg.......the bass player, the keyboardist (organ - as Hornsby is behind the piano)? Both look like Joe Pesci with bad wigs. I'm not 100% sure it's not the same guy playing multiple parts in said video.

Still 36 years (?) later, I still like the song.

Never heard of them and I graduated high school in ‘82. Guess they weren’t popular in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
