Older

We are still in Columbus and I think the underlying theme of the weekend is: we're getting older.

I know - alert the media.

Much of our weekend with long-time friends has revolved around work, potential retirement (when, if, where, etc), and health. Granted, we've done it with laughs and memories, but we all realize this is on our horizon.

We now watch what we eat and when, because our bodies react differently than they did before. I can only speak of me when I say my beer consumption was less than it used to be and I was the first to excuse myself to go to bed - you know, because it was 23:00 and it was past my bedtime.

It was not lost on me that this was the group of folks I used to meet UP with starting at 23:00 to go out for most of the night. Beer consumption was at least twice of what I did last night. Time marches on.

There was some sitcom that I'm blanking on where the guy said he now had to get up in the middle of the night to pee. An older friend said, "at least you remember to get up to do it". I'm not quite in the former category, but how far off can it be?

It is always great being with these guys though. And since it seems I've wallowed a little here, I'll provide pics - just for fun.

This is Skeeter. He loves me. But he just loves. He's such a good boy. There were two night of fireworks while we were here and he ran to me both times for protection and pets - both of which I was happy to give. He has a brother, Logan, who is so nice, but so painfully shy almost - I didn't get to love him as much.

Brutie looks angry but he is one big love cat. He loves constant attention, and I was happy to give it to him. He is so handsome and I love his white muzzle. He looks big but he's all fur. He is actually pretty light.

And since I'm such a sucker for animals, they know it. I didn't get Logan on me, but Skeeter and Brutie were on me like white on rice. I cannot believe how Morty deprives them of affection!

I kid - that house is full of love for these guys, but hey, if they can find more, they seek it out. They're kind of whores for pets and kisses.

awwwww, that last pix sooooo cute!

I get up 1-2 times (depending on how much I have had to drink) to pee during the night. that's just the way it is; could be worse.

Yes, you are getting older, but this is a good thing, no?
Like men before us, we are going through the phases of life.
I know too many that never made it to our age to have these kind of conversations. so I am grateful for being older and wiser.

mind, I would like better knees.
