Second Choice

Sorry for late publishing. This was drafted and ready to go, but we had a major power outage. 

Planning ahead in the blog world doesn't always work out. I had something 90% drafted when Kamala drops the name of her VP running mate.

Yes, I'm still not reading the news, but my friend Jon was first to text with the announcement - and during leg day!  

And let's face it - reading news or not, that tidbit wasn't just gonna slip past anyone with an internet connection.

I know / knew very little about Tim Walz - other than he is the governor of Minnesota and that Minnesota has become an exemplary state in terms of voting rights, healthcare, the environment, education, homo stuff. All the things the GOP would like to take away. 

Let's not forget, their citizens also convicted George Floyd's murderers.  So yay - Minnesota!

I was surprised when Jon mentioned Walz was only (only!) 60. I gotta admit, he looks older. But he's a past middle aged white man, and like it or not, that's what the ticket needed. As much as I'd have liked a more youthful top and bottom of the ticket - voters are not ready for that just yet. And on the fence voters might not want to see a pairing that might last 8 or 16 years in one form or another. 

A governor was the correct choice. A House member would have worked too, as I don't think the dems are taking back the House in 2024. She could not have really picked from the Senate. It's so close now, that removing a dem could mean losing the Senate. 

Of course, my email and texts have been inundated with stuff from both candidates - this being two of them:

BLOTUS' just made me laugh. 

I mean, I didn't click on it to open it (and it's sent to an old yahoo account that I go and delete everything out of once per week) so I don't know what else he went on about. 

The worst VP in history???  Has he met his current choice or his first one? 

Yes, the "guy" is all about hyperbole, but chances are the email was written and they were just waiting to plug in a name. 

So far, I'm still optimistic (yes - me!) about the happenings with the dems........but I've been fooled before.
