Double Vision

Last evening we hosted our friend Doug and his brother, Don.

Doug and I have been great friends for over 30 years. Oddly enough, he had met Denton first through swimming, but all those pieces didn't come together for years.

It's been a year or so since we've seen Doug and other than a Zoom call, I've never actually met his brother - a twin. That last time, he and his husband unknowingly (allegedly) exposed us to Covid

Doug and Don were in town (well, near it) for Twins Fest.......which is held in Twinsburg. It was their first time - and probably last.

"Freak Show" was how they termed it.

But it's not just twins. It's "multiples".  Triplets, Quads and probably the Octomom's off-spring could be there was well. Doug was convinced people came to spectate to see if they could sleep with twins. Even other twins, he claimed, wanted to pair up.  I don't see any validity to that.

Decades ago, when I found out Doug was a twin, and Don was straight, I would start off almost every single conversation with, "so.....................how's your brother?".  I got to relay that story last night. Everyone seemed amused.

We had a great time. Don was not shockable at anything his brother said or our banter. He's a big Christmas Story fan, but not big enough to know that the house was a few miles from us.

They had great tales of twindom. They talk at least twice a day, every day. They were asked by multiple parents of twin children about 'twin stuff' as they tried to navigate, or educate, what they might experience as their children aged.

Still we sat around and had drinks, pizza pie and pie pie. And had a lot of laughs. It was a nice enjoyable evening - hopefully for all.

J's mother lived in Twinsburg late in her life. Sounds like the visit to you was the highlight of their weekend.

good for you!
I just got finished (another) paper on the infamous "Harvard longevity' study that emphasizes relationships as the key to health love and meaning.
