School's Out

Our last night of vacation - more on that in another post - we had a late "wine o'clock" and had to finish all the wine since we were leaving the next day.

That put dinner a little late, but not late late. And we walked to dinner, so we didn't have to worry about driving.

Friday evening was when my niece was receiving her diploma for her Ph.D. These days, colleges live stream the events, and while we couldn't be there, we wanted to be there...in some way.

So we ordered more wine and then our entrées and booted up the iPhone to watch Katie graduate.

The entire time, we were all texting - my sister, brother-in-law and Katie herself. They loved the picture I took, of which you see.

Oh, I also had the scallop risotto, as you can surmise.

Katie was touched we took the time to watch the ceremony, but of course we would should we have the means, and we did. So we did.

As it turns out, the Ph.D. candidates are the first to get their diplomas, so we didn't have to wait too long.  So at 28, she has her doctorate, which is impressive. She's done with her internships and all and starts her residency starting September. I'm very excited for her.

FYI.  The scallops were great, but the risotto was a little gummy. The bottle and a half of wine I consumed made me care less about the risotto.

I love risotto! It's a shame when it isn't made proper.
