My Music Monday

I keep finding 'new' songs with which to run, that are not new. This kind of makes me happy and sad at the same time.

There was a time, I was somewhat on top of the 'new music' scene, but that is so far from the case now, it's just a bit of a downer.

Today's selection "Holdin' on to Black Metal" from My Morning Jacket dates back seven years. I'm not remotely on the forefront of this one.

It's kind of a Bond theme meets Bananarama meets Van Joy.

The horns are clearly Bond / John Barry.  The female intro vocalizations (not really words) harkens some "Aie a Mwana" from Bananarama, And the falsetto main vocal of, well, almost any current male artists on Sirius XM's 'alt nation' channel.

It doesn't intuitively seem like a song with which to work out, or run, but I think the horns and some of the vocal stylings lift me up during a difficult run to get me through the next four minutes or so.

I still have my iPod. I find it charming. When I see your photo of one it makes me smile.
