February

Wasn't it just the other day I was saying I'm tired of Winter? Didn't I say it was the umpteenth time I have said it this year?

Well - you can make it umpteen and one now.

This pic was taken from my office. 11 floors up and yes, that is ice on the windows. The ice became worse before it finally melted.

Roads weren't touched (again). Almost every public office and school was closed (again). Five people showed up to the office - including myself.

Yes, I could have worked from home, but I had stuff that was office-related I really had to get done.

It was nice that my car has all-wheel drive. I hadn't had that before. Except for one major hill, going down it, I had little to no trouble on the roads, even though it was total anarchy out there. No lines to be seen - it was a frickin' free-for-all. For the most part, I led the way, so I was all good.

Oh, I should mention I cleared about 5" of snow before I left for work. Yes, another firing up of the snowblower at 06:30. I knew I wouldn't make it back into the drive when I got home from work - and oh, how true that would have been.

Upon my return 11 hours later, even though the snow had stopped hours before, I knew it was bad. A half a block from our house there was a mountain of snow so big, put there by plows, a front loader was trying to clean it up. I got home and still had to clear another 7" of snow.

Have I mentioned I'm tired of this? Because I am.

And it's not even March yet. You can expect at least one more whopper (and not the good kind).

Nowadays they close schools if there is even a tiny dot of blue on the radar. It's pathetic. They never called off school when I was a kid. School administrators need to grow some BALLS!

I was lucky: I timed my annual trip south for the duration of the ice storm. We've had quite the snowy winter here in Indy—which usually misses most of the snow—but Cleveland is perfectly situated for Snowmageddon.

If the storm moving East from the Pacific is any hint...its going to get worse before it gets better. San Francisco just got snow for the first time since 1976.

You've convinced me that your winters are far harder than ours in the Great White North (at least where I live!) All the freezing rain and dumps of snow must make big city driving and air travel very difficult.

Here it is -15 to -30 C all winter which means we never get freezing rain and in fact, it never even snows when it is that cold. Also, we have brilliant blue skies and sunshine most of the time.

Remember, spring is just around the corner!

I feel your pain. We regret now that our pool isn't heated. Chilly in the morning!

We can take solace in the fact that tomorrow is March. Right now it is dumping snow out my window, sigh.
