My Music Monday

I honestly considered doing a theme of horrible cover songs. Then I thought - who would that benefit?

None of you would truly listen to them, and might end up disliking me and / or the blog, because there are some truly bad things out there.

I mean, do you really want to hear Paul Anka sing "Smells Like Teen Spirit"?  Edie and Steve covering "Black Hole Sun"?

Yeah, it sounds fun(ny)...........until it isn't.

Still, I can't let one go.  And it's brand new.

I was touting, just a few weeks back, the Monkees and their song "Words".  Actually, now that I look back, it was two months ago!

But I caught a pic online of three-fourths of R.E.M. sitting with Micky Dolenz - the only surviving Monkee. Maybe surviving should be in quotes.

Dolenz allegedly has a new EP out, though I can't seem to locate it - though that might not be a bad thing.

Dolenz Sings R.E.M..

I shit you not.

I believe the man is 78 years old now, so in a way he's earned the right to do what he wants. I just don't see why there has to be collateral damage.

While the image of R.E.M sitting with Dolenz makes it sound like they're behind this project - I don't know that for a fact. I'd say the band would get royalties, but to cash in on those, someone's gonna have to buy the music, or worse, play it.

Gentlemen and Ladies, I give you "Shiny Happy People".
