Checks

Maybe it was a holiday in the middle of the week. My it's my mental health. But who knows why I forgot to blog yesterday. I mean, I got one in under the wire at like 04:00, but sheeze.......it's not like I haven't blogged every day since 2008.

Weird I didn't even think about it until yesterday morning. Honestly, I just assumed if I didn't blog you'd all think I died - which wouldn't be far off base.

But on to today...........

Yahoo.

Srsly. I still have my Yahoo email account, but I haven't used it in a decade? I stopped when I continued to get emails from friends, family, co-workers and vendors from some guy in Texas, who clearly didn't know this guy's email address. His first name wasn't even the same as mine.

Anyhoo, I barely even check it, but I know it's active.

What I didn't know is that I'm somehow part of some class action lawsuit about identity breach. Not only do I not remember signing up for it (I know I didn't), I certainly didn't give them my home address - the last one, or the current one.

Yet yesterday I got a check.  $61.08.

I was skeptical, but it looks legit, but I can't seem to find anything about it online. But I suppose I can cash it. I mean, it should buy four bottles of wine. Or one tank of gas.

I'm a little worried that the data breach might have included my address, but I certainly wasn't living here when using Yahoo. Still, if they can get into one thing they can tap into others, as my credit debacle of earlier this year proved.

Turns out the internet isn't just for porn - it's for fraud too.   ........and 61 big ones.

It may have been an opt out class, instead of an opt in. You may be able to google the court and case number. As my grandmother would say, "don't spend it all in one place young man."

Yes, I wondered what happened yesterday. Obviously I did not care enough to inquire, which could have been tragic.

I hope nobody is paying you $61/day not to blog? But as Geddy Lee says, ten bucks is ten bucks.

Have the same check in front of me and it is legit. Same amount too. Best to invest in cat toys.
