Separate Ways

I could have easily called this post "Good Riddance".

No doubt some of my readership is in the 20 states who want to explore seceding from the Union.

I would venture to guess if you reside there and read me, you're not one of the folks signing petitions and hoping to break free from these United States.

....but one never knows about who reads me.

But seriously, good riddance.  By all means - go!

What surprises me is the states that are signing such a petition.  Yes, you expect it from Texas, Alabama and Arkansas. Oregon and New York have stymied me.  I can't see I saw that coming.

Yes, I know it's all chatter. They are malcontents where in most states didn't win their election. They couldn't get it together to elect "their guy" and now they think they can secede and succeed?  More power to ya.

For g-d's sake, do what every other malcontent does - say you're moving to Canada and then don't follow through.

I still have seen one of those moving pods in front of Nugent's house.

or, to add to sean's comment, one in front of rush's house either.

TX can go back to mexico; and don't let the door hit ya in the ass as you leave.

GET OVER IT, tea party asshats - the president won, and there's nothing you can do about it.

I wish that angry Americans would stop saying that they are moving to Canada. The fact is that you can't. It is a sovereign and you would have to apply just like any other landed immigrant. So if you don't have unique and special skills that Canada needs or you are not marrying a Canadian, then you are not getting in. Oh and us Canadians pay taxes, not just the poor and middle class but EVERYBODY! Also note that if you have a pre-existing medical condition then you are not likely to be accepted as a permanent residence in Canada either.

People are idiots too, like you can just decide to move up here. Hello, it doesn't work that way, you have to be qualified and bring some added value to society. The bar is actually pretty high.

The thing I don't understand about the successionist is that they are, I believe, mostly on the right-wing side of most issues. Aren't these the same people who have been wrapping themselves in the flag my whole life and claiming that they are the only ones who are patriotic and love America?

I love that Austin is now trying to secede from Texas so they can stay part of the USA!
