the System Only Dreams in Total Darkness

Pappy Joe did something amazing with his commuting of most Federal death penalty prisoners. 

Again, I'm just a headline reader, and only saw this one because the NYT emailed it overnight. I know no detail behind this. 

That said, I'm not a proponent of the death penalty. I know some people are just horrific and I know some crimes are just heinous as hell, but I'm not sure the death penalty is the answer. And there is too much margin of error and finality if the person is exonerated. 

Oh, I get that families, DAs, courts and certain would-be presidents will say the judgements should not be tampered with - and to them I say, "fuck you". 

Evidence, trials and justice is tampered with all the time. And BLOTUS has no say, considering he pardoned, not commuted, all of his law breaking friends. And no doubt will the January 6 fuckheads. Of course, when he does that now, he'll say, "Biden did it first", when he actually didn't. But his cult won't believe a word of it. 

Swept under the rug is the governor of Missouri commuting (or pardoning?) the sentence of a white cop who was convicted of mudering and framing a black man back in 2019. Of course, the cop said the "victim" was pointing a gun at the officer(s), but prosecutors allege they planted the gun on the victim. Also, there was no crime reported and no warrant to be on he victim's property. 

But yeah - let's commute his sentence. 

I'm assuming all of the folks on death penalty just got downgraded to life in prison (again, I don't read the news). The Missouri cop - he's out. All of BLOTUS' people: out. 

Pappy Joe still has a month to fuck with people.  Good.
