My Music Monday

For me, it's getting more and more difficult to find holiday-themed songs. It goes back to my initial assessment that there are a total of 21 xmas songs that are done to excess.

How many fucking "I'll Be Home for Christmas" covers does one planet need?  I'd go with zero, but I suspect some people would like a few more than that.

You can substitute that song title for "White Christmas", "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", "Winter Wonderland", "Do You Hear What I Hear?" - and the list goes on. But just up to 21 songs.

Then you get the shit of "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer".  Honestly, I wish I had, should I ever hear that again.  OR Paul McCartney {shudder}. And there are far far far far far far too many remakes of Wham!'s "Last Christmas".

There are a heck of a lot of covers of Joni Mitchell's "River" too. Mostly by female artists, who don't change a note, pause or inflection. I suppose that is a testament to Mitchell herself. But then the Broadway gays do it too........and over do it.

So, I figure, why not just go with the original 1971 version.
