My Music Monday

More new music.

Everything on paper would make today's selection a winner. I don't know from Allison Russell, but a song on a banjo (yeah, don't that deter you at all) and a duet with Annie Lennox?  You'd figure it was one of the more unique selections out there.

And in a way "Superlover" is.

In a way it's missing something.

The song is an appeal for kindness and empathy, as opposed to violence and cruelty. So I'd like to think we can all appreciate the message. At least the folks who read my blog, that is.

The banjo is not played like you'd think and it's well done. For a while it is the only instrument used and the others are extremely subtle - and allegedly played by Wendy & Lisa (formerly of the Revolution) who are rumoured to be producing Lennox's next album.

I think part of the missing piece is Lennox herself. She used but I'm not sure it's wisely enough. It is her first appearance on any record in over seven years. Annie does a fine job with what she's given.

The performances of both artists are extremely well done. The song just doesn't grab me like I think it should. But that's just one blogger's opinion.

I mean, I'm always going to click on something that says "Anniex Lennox".  Right?  And it gets an A for being a bit more unique than most anything out there.
