Doctor

Well, at least my blood pressure, pulse and temp are in good working order. Other than that.........it's questionable.

I seemingly go through these spurts where I'm seeing a doctor - or four - in short succession. This is one of those times.

Yesterday was a general surgeon as when I made the appointment a month ago, I was 86% sure I had another hernia (I've had a few). And I had that feeling for a month before I even tried to make an appointment.

But as the date got closer I was less and less sure that was the issue. Maybe I should have cancelled. I didn't.

Long story short, probably not a hernia. Possible muscle tear though. An ultrasound will tell.

It was the resident that was my bigger issue. I'm all for teaching hospitals and always play along, even when I know better. We were doing some hernia surgery history and for the fucking life of him, he could not figure anything out - even though I was spelling out dates and surgery sites on my body. He's putting it into the EMR and reading it back to me......all wrong. Not some of it. ALL of it.  Dates. Surgeries. Sides of the body. Mesh/No Mesh.  ....and how long I had my current problem (2 months).

The attending comes in - great guy. Really liked him. He reads the EMR and goes, "so....this has been a problem for five months....?".  I didn't even dare look to the resident at this point, and went on to inform the surgeon the real info.

I'm going to have go into MyChart and read the notes because I know I'll have to send them a message on what to correct.

Still, this might all come back to my chiropractor, who told me "everything is connected".  As the surgeon and I talked, it is quite possible my pain might be from compensating on my right side for hip pain I have on my left side that I've had from running.  Huh. Go figure.

Truth be told, I was dreading the possibility of yet another surgery. I think had their been one, it would have pushed me into double digits - not including oral surgeries.

Me, being me, couldn't let sleeping dogs lie. No, I texted my friend Bob, whose husband is chief of surgery. The surgeon got a compliment, but said, if he (the husband) wants info on my experience, to have him call me. (He won't - he's never seemed to like me much.)

So, maybe if I get my left hip pain in order (more doc appointments - yay!), this one will resolve itself.

That my BP is normal for all of this is ah-mahz-ing.

How you get through that without making blood pressure machine turn red and start beeping, I don't know. I have made the machine turn red and start beeping, the fast lane to a CT scan.
