NATIONAL DEBT

If you've never seen the National Debt Clock in NYC, it's quite amazing. Not in a good way - but in a car accident you just can't turn away from way. It's the way the numbers just tick away every frickin second.

The clock is built to have placeholders for 13 digits (the sign is 26 feet long!), which silly as it sounds, is only in the singles of trillions of dollars! Within the next two years, we will hit the 14 digit mark. Oddly enough, the clock is designed to run backwards if the chance ever was needed. Three more Bush years - I'm assuming we won't be seeing that feature anytime soon!

...and just an FYI - as of this writing, the debt is: $8,373,427,814,745.73 or each one of us owes $28,012.72. No personal checks, please!

side note: picture/debt is from July 2002!
