As we are starting in Berlin, it is just as well as give a nod to it with the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's song also named "Berlin".
My thought was to do Leonard Cohen's "First We Take Manhattan", but I did Jennifer Warens' cover of it 12 years ago. And to be honest, she does it better than Cohen himself.
But the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club doesn't get any recognition, and they should. "Berlin" is a perfect meeting of rock and pop. ...more on the rock side, but it's a very accessible song.

Berlin - one of my very favourite cities - or was, and maybe still is, though haven't visited since the late 1980s. Was proud to be one of the post-unification firsts (well, maybe in the first 200,000 or so) to be able to walk through the Brandenburg gate, which perhaps the marathon route goes through.
