Yesterday, we were supposed to have arrived in Berlin. Clearly, that did not happen. Still 710 had taken off the time, so he's stuck with me for the next week or so. We took Shep on a pic-a-nic and walked a mile or so and then headed home.
Unfortunately, a pressure sensor said one of my tires was low. 710 tried to fill it but saw a nail. Drats.
He called our friendly neighbourhoold mechanic who was gracious enough to say he'd look at it, and patch it if he could; replace it if he needed.
So, we had to do the dance of the automobiles. 710 follow me to the guy and then drive me back home after dropping off the car.
........except.............
We go out to get my car and it won't start. The car we had just been in for a few hours - dead. All the electrical lights came on, but nothing started. Then none of the lights came on.
Occum's Razor suggested it was the battery, but you just never know. Luckily, it was. And luckily we had jumper cables. After we got her up and running, then 710 followed me to the car fixer-upper-guy.
Now we wait.
With my history, it will be a new battery and new tire, but we'll see.
On a positive note - after 39 days of not driving, I haven't seem to lost the ability to navigate a car from point A to B and not hit anything. Or be hit. So................silver lining.
