Yes, there is a possibility I won't circle back to my travels - or travels in full - in any post, but that is the risk I am willing to take.
Anyhoo - today it's Site of the Month.
I don't think I've done this one, but I'm a bit too lazy to go back and check. And should I have repeated, it just helps you all remember things you should be checking out.
I look at the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA) site semi-regularly. Lately, almost daily.
Being in Ohio, I'm not horribly worried about hurricanes, but it's a nice to know should anyone be traveling where they do occur.
Me? As of late, I've been looking for the Northern Lights.
They have been far more prevalent these last few months below the 49th parallel. Mind you, I've missed them each and every time they've shown themselves. As I mentioned the other day on FOMO, this one I readily admit to feeling left out.
A few times, I have stayed up well past my bed time and taken 710 and Shep out on drives to where they should be visible, only to have them no-show. Then I'm tired and cranky.
So, I can't say the NOAA site is 100% reliable, but neither are the Auroras .
Green is ok and it is almost over the US, but you really want it orange and red. But this part of NOAA will play it's prediction over a 24 hour period - a minute by minute radar (sped up) so you can see where (map) and when (timer - lower right corner).
This is as close as it's getting yesterday. But "they" say, there will be an increase in sightings over the next two years. So maybe, I won't have to go to Iceland to see them - though I gladly would.
NOAA has links for other things too.
You can track solar flares, and if there is known meteor shower, they will throw a link up to that as well.
Beware. If Vonshitshispants wins, Project 2025 has plans for the dissolution of NOAA built into it.
This all stems from a former president (no uppercase for that twat) who got butt hurt when he took a Sharpie to a projected storm route, that was 100% wrong, and he was made fun of for it.
So, since you can't make fun of the dictator, they'll take away the things that mocked him. Kims Jung Il and Un would do the same thing. Yes, because THIS is where we are headed should "he" win.
Visit the site. Often. Make it visible for science, and for their knowledge we know it is there.

NOAA is my go to for storms, for lack of anything better. I am sure I’ll never see the Northern Lights
My first thought was "and he who shall not be named, want's to do away with them."
