Shopping with Blobby

Yet another installment in the drudgery that is everyday shopping. The camera-phone makes it a bit more fun - though I get looks whenever I take pics of products. Like I care what people think!

These last few weeks have left me feeling old. 

In an instant - literally - I went from being independent to semi-independent at best. Very reliant on others for weeks. 

My counters, bathrooms, hallways and bedrooms looks like a pharmacy of elder supplies. I believe I mentioned this days ago. 

From my hospital bed, I was ordering things for overnight delivery so they'd be rarin' to go by the time I was discharged. One of these things was called a Hip Kit. 

Not as in groovy. 

As in - you have a new hip or broke your old one. Or both. 

From anywhere between $30-50 you can get a kit that includes basically a rag on a stick to warsh (not a typo) your back. Grabbers - the kind T-Rex's would use to get things off high shelves, or off the floor. Shoe horns. Leg lifters. Sock puter oner things. 

They taught me to use these things in occupational therapy before I left. The leg lifter was great. I needed it for the first 10 days. I use it less and less now, as I'm gaining some mobility.  And I use the shower pad on a stick. 

Other than that, right now, I have 710 to help with the other stuff. 

But this upcoming week, he'll have to make appearances at the office, which will leave me at home alone for half days. Which means, I'll probably be using this stuff more and more. 

I'm not in a position to be in a shower with no one else around, so that'll have to wait. For the most part I can be dressed before 710 leaves for work. 

I'm not 100% sure how much I'll need (or use) this stuff. It won't go bad or anything, and well, I'm not getting any younger, so the chances that one of us (or both) needs it in the future are high.
