Affirmative - and then I go downstairs and outside to do some dynamic stretching before embarking on a 5.5 mile run. He was back to sleep before I even got to the bottom stair.
I think I was about a half mile into my run and internally started laughing at / to myself. "Are you going out for a run?".
It amused me.
In what fucking world did that happen when just wouldn't have been a frickin' joke?
There was a time the chances of me coming home at 05:00 were a lot better than me getting up at that time. And running? PUH-leese.
When the "laughing" was over, I noticed I forgot to start my watch. FUCK.
I mean, if you don't record it, it didn't happen, right? So while I did 5.5, my watch and running app say otherwise.
Then I ran over some animal leftovers that had been trampled by dozens and dozens and dozens of cars. So little was left one would barely notice it especially in the dark. Except for after the left shoe hitting what had been skunk.
Fuck. Me.
I carried that with me for another half mile till I got to the park around the lake and rubbed the bottoms of my shoes over and over across the dewy grass. After three times around the lake I headed home, but you can kind of see down a different street. Je did not want to step in smushed skunk again.
There is really no point to this story - and certainly no meaningful conclusion, though I could fake my way through that had this been a Christmas Story and the teach made me write...............a theme!
But it's not and she didn't.

I am so glad my running days were before technology, a cheap digital watch with a stopwatch function, was all, and key to the door or my car was all I needed to have with me. Yes, the run happened, even if the CIA can't track your route.
