My Hero

As I attempt to lessen my social media presence, this includes not even looking at LinkedIn.

That site is kind of a joke. Or has become one. While I have five fold the number of 'contacts' that I do on FB, it has become less about jobs and trends and more about politics and religion.

I don't need or want bible quotes, or updates on former co-workers kids. There is a way to talk business in terms of political landscape, but when you start touting candidates of any kind, you kind of figure you're possibly alienating half of the people with whom your connected.

Yet one update slipped through yesterday - and I clicked.

It was a response from a former neighbor and a lawyer who was hoping 710 and I would be an Ohio couple to legalize same sex marriage years back

This neighbor / friend / lawyer has been seemingly been posting a bit on the current administration when it comes to the law. But I'm going another degree of separation and show the original post.

I don't know this woman, but I love her.

Good for her! Sorry she's out a job, but yay for integrity.

And speaking of same-sex marriage and integrity, or lack thereof..........Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, the law firm that represent Edie Windsor pro bono to declare DOMA unconstitutional (and also help - for free - the families who were separated by BLOTUS' southern border fiasco in 2017), caved to the current BLOTUS administration and is doing the same - if not more - than the above law firm.

Cowards all!

I don't get the law firms caving. They of all people and groups should know the options and have the resources to fight back. Every day is something else, though. The FDA yesterday. But, Wisconsin is some good news at least.

Your reflections on LinkedIn and its shift in focus resonate with many—it’s frustrating when platforms lose their original purpose. The story of your neighbor and their integrity is inspiring, though, and it’s a reminder of the power of standing up for what’s right, even when it comes at a personal cost.

The mention of Edie Windsor and the fight for marriage equality highlights how pivotal moments in history are shaped by individuals and their courage. It’s bittersweet to see the contrast between those who uphold integrity and those who falter under pressure.

By the way, I’ve just shared a new post—you might enjoy it: www.melodyjacob.com. Hope it adds something meaningful to your day.
