Howard Dean sent me what I'm guessing is an equivalent of a 'Dear John' letter - even though my name isn't John (!). Howie says regarding his upcoming primary in Wisconsin: Anything less will put us out of this race.

It's a shame, really. He had the most backbone of any of the current candidates. I guess that worked against him. I guess voters want someone as milquetoast, well, as all other democrats.......which is how we ended up w/Geo W. in the first place.

At least Dean will have some legacy for changing how political fundraising is done and for energizing younger voters - and unlike Kerry, he didn't have to put a 2nd or 3rd mortgage on his house (which undoubtedly will be paid off by his heiress wife) to keep a campaign afloat. Makes you wonder how Kerry will handle a budget.
