I mean, it's one person's opinion (and blog), of course, but I could fill up an entire year (I think) of that category. It could be argued I already have.
Technically, the Eurythmics have never broken up.
Sure they don't record or tour, but they've never officially split, nor are they on bad terms.
Back in 1999 the band ended a 10 year separation to record and release Peace. I think they've come back together one other time to record two additional tracks for a greatest hits compilation. But according to the Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox, they leave the door open for future collaborations. It's one of the few things in life about which I am optimistic.
"I Saved the World Today" was the first thing written, recorded and released from that disk. It never charted in the U.S., but it did in about 20 other countries.
If you go by the YouTube comments, apparently the songs was used in a Sopranos episode. That seems to be most people's reference. Just not mine.
The song is string heavy - in a good way. And balanced with electronic keyboards and some brass. Lennox's vocals are spot on. She is just a great singer. She makes most every song better.
The song and album deserved a better showing than it got.
Oh - and go vote and Save the World TOMORROW.
