Even the first time I heard it - and second and third - I wasn't actually sold by any means. But it kind of crept up on me.
The song is not sung as much as it is spoken, and not in a rap way or even in a Robin Thicke half-sing way.
"Backseat" has an EDM-lite feeling throughout the song, but it really (for me) is the cadence of the spoken / "sung" chorus that kind of draws me in. It seems rudimentary but it definitely carries a hook.
Back in my Ecstasy taking days, I could see this getting me out to the dance floor.
