If you get a copy of their operating expense report, it seems that for a lot of them a great deal more goes to paying their staff than to any research or community help. And that bothers me.Erik Rubrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02626660182410256426noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185139.post-54831880407270522062012-09-09T19:12:52.963-04:002012-09-09T19:12:52.963-04:00Yeah, I don't know about that shirt. Nuh-uh.

I check carefully how the charity spends its money before I hand it over. That's why Jerry Lewis won't get a dime from me: MD has one of the poorest records for actual spending on research. The one fundraiser I'll always pry open my wallet for is AIDS. I usually give to our support center where I volunteer. Then it relieves me from having to watch any telethon.Birdiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12852713057094279347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185139.post-81783652365916790092012-09-09T17:40:08.175-04:002012-09-09T17:40:08.175-04:00I grew up spending Labor Day with Jerry. He should be commended for the his achievements in raising funds for a charity that previously had little or no public awareness but the event itself became a little too 'cult of personality' for me.

I donate to the health-related charities that have affected my life or the lives of those I love. About half the annual giving from Casa de Harper goes to arts organizations. In those cases I guess the organization is the survivor.Harpers Keeperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02063887885657898897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5185139.post-90068586452959255152012-09-09T12:00:11.641-04:002012-09-09T12:00:11.641-04:00Cancer charities are already well funded.
